Swirl flap blanking plates 335d US spec?

On our US cars do we need to worry about that?

Example;

As said, there have been zero reports on recent engines, either M47, M57 or the new N47/N57. There were quite a few on the M47 in the early 2000s, where the flaps broke and grenaded the engine.

Ya you could do it but its not necessary. The design of the flap was changed.

There have been a few failure no where near as many as the e46 series, in the new F series i think BMW have done away with them.

I've said this before on my D, circa 90k there was a small amount of boost leaking from them as you can see lot of oil on them, i deleted the swirl flaps and fitted blanking plates, i regained/gained more power with no negative effect on performance or drivability - folk say low down power/torque is lost its a load of crap.
