You should have test drove it before you bought a BMW, but congratulations on making the right choice anyway

Audi is a hell of a car, it will soon be updated, BMW was recently updated, we will see his they do head to head when the new Audi comes out.

I was between an S4 and 335 x-drive M-Sport, I went BMW because of updated tech and USAA discount. Honestly the S4 was the better performer, but not by much.

So far I love the BMW, but the Audi is a Great Car as well.

Is that all you got, to create a new topic? Do you want to share driving impressions, what you liked and didn't like compared to the F30?

The A6 I drove a few years back was awesome. I had an E90 back then and liked it even better, but wonder what I'll prefer if I do an A4 to F30 back-to-back drive.

since you're asking for a bit more comparison between the two I'll give it to ya!

I drove an a5 quattro, fully loaded with premium plus, nav, sound package, and s-line interior package. MSRP was around 52k pre tax.

I'm comparing to a 328i xdrive. mine is a no line car with premium pkg. MSRP on mine was 48k post tax.

I'm only going to talk about the feel of the car while driving. Obviously there are differences such as coupe versus sedan, and space differences inside the car, so I'm not going to mention those.

Engine wise, the 328 has 20hp on the a5/a4. During regular 'comfort' driving, its faintly noticeable. But when you compare the 328's sport mode to the a5s sport mode, the 328 blows it out of the park. throttle sensitivity is almost instant versus the audi. When the audi is in sport mode, it feels like the 328 comfort mode.

To me, this takes all the fun out of driving. In a 328, the difference between sport and comfort is HUGE. in the a5, its barely noticable.

Comparing the interior features, audi does not do HUD for under a6 models! For something this expensive I'd want HUD. Also, the park assist features are sad. The backup cam has the worst clarity. Its worse than any modern cell phone in existance. Also the guide lines are designed terribly. And obviously there are not the side cameras like in the upgraded park assist.

Another thing I noticed was that auto folding mirrors is not even an option. manual folds only.

Finally, the price was horrendous. Way overpriced for what you get.

Audi is the young person's mercedes. If thats what you like, then its a great choice for you, otherwise, get a bimmer

luckily I made the right choice before even driving the audi, something I'm thankful of.

IIRC the Audis do handle quite well, with only steering feel missing. Is the steering feel improved any?

With xdrive I'd imagine the f30 would have more body roll than the a4/a5.

I agree the A5 < 428, mostly because of sterring feel, weight, lack of power in engine.

The S5 = 435i though. Audi's interior is really nice. And the S5 engine is pretty good.

Was also looking at the Q5 compared to my Tiguan, and just felt too similar, for so much more money.

+1. ALL DAY. 328 x drive no line is a little family sedan by comparison.

It sure didn't feel that way. LOL. Didn't feel special enough at all. Buy a Q5 when I could have a 428i GC for about the same price here, no way. LOL

Why not just buy a 328 with same options as 428gc? Same thing.

Lol, so an Audi with all the bells and whistles at just a few grand more is "over priced" meanwhile your baseline with has virtually no features to speak of isn't?

Don't kid yourself, both cars are expensive and no one would call them a "bargain". It just sounds like you're just trying to justify your purchase by grasping at straws and nitpicking all these little features in the Audi which, ironically, your BMW doesn't even have to begin with. The A5 doesn't have available HUD? Yours doesn't have it either so it's a moot point. The back up camera? Do you even have the back up camera in your car? In fact all the features you slammed on the car, you don't even have. I found things like the back up camera to work and look just fine.

I test drove the S4 before deciding on my F30 and my experience was the polar opposite, car drove better than the F30. Only thing it had going against it was the interior and exterior styling was very dated, which makes sense because they're due out for redesign very soon. Plus when you got on it, it had something the F30 commonly gets complaints about, an amazing exhaust note that you can hear very clearly, even with music on, in the cabin. I have the MPE on my car and if the windows are up and music on, I can still hardly hear it when I get on it. Still have no regrets with my purchase but Audi's are great all around vehicles in and of themselves that make great alternatives to BMW's.

If the styling were fresher both inside and out, I'd of left with an S4 that day. Besides, the A5 is about as old as the A4/S4. Both will be fully redesigned next year and will have things like head up display.
