Started my '08 E90 tonight and the Service Light comes on.

This new attitude comes in the form of a red exclamation point symbol in a red triangle. Prior to tonight, just gave the indicator that service is due.

The car thinks it is 600 miles overdue for an oil change, otherwise running quite nicely.

Pressing the stalk button to get to the Check Control feature reveals no codes (checked here to make sure I wasn't missing anything: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658265), just the current gear selected with the new graphic.

So is this just the car getting more aggressive about thinking it needs an oil change?

I have a ScanGauge ][ loaned out to a friend, so I can't read the car for more info. Thus my post here. :-/

It's angry at you because your oil change is overdue. When was your last oil change? If you DIY or had it done at another shop they might not have reset the CBS. You can just reset it yourself if that's the case.

Cool - I can do the reset. Just never saw that "escalation" before so I didn't know what to make of it...
