Concerns w/ bumper lip height...

Picking up a 428I X next week and turning in my X1. The front bumper on the 428 is very low compared to my current X1. Are there problems with it hitting or scraping on curbs when going up or down inclined ramps like in or out of a pitched driveway or when parking head in?

I will have the Driver Assist Package, does the front bumper have the proximity sensors like the rear bumper to help when parking head in?

Thanks for any guidance

I have the M Sport, the front does have the pdc sensors like on the rear. But the front is quite low and the pdc does not pick up curbs so you will have to be careful when parking in.
Also you have to remember to activate the front pdc sensors by hitting the switch.

Is there any way of raising the ride height? Like how some lower their cars?!

It's a real concern for me in my 335i, so I can only imagine it being worse for a 4 series.

Wonder if the specs for the approach angle with the mpackage is available?

Dimensions should be in the manual, so that should provide a good starting point. Another related issue for me is the jack stands that are in a dangerous position and break really easily.

You shouldn't have any issues with inclines but you will need to learn how to stop earlier when parking up to a curb. Not that big of a deal as long as you pay attention. If you are getting parking sensors, just push the button on the console as you enter the parking spot to give you a bit of extra protection. Keep in mind that some curbs may not get picked up by the sensors.

Keep in mind that your cars is miles shorter than the average SUV so there is no need to be concerned about sticking out too far in a parking spot. Not sure why everyone thinks that they need to make the front tires hit a curb before stopping. (Cough, cough........like my wife)

Lol.

You guys have got me worried now about the ground clearance, because we have steep driveways and rough roads here. Also looks like you have the xdrive which is not as lowered as the msport 2wd.

My car is due in august, wonder if they have a rough road package or something I could request before it's finished??

My M sport rubs something almost every day...it's no big deal though, i got a look at it on a lift a couple days ago when I was switching wheels up, and it's just some scratched paint underneath where no one will ever see.

Ok, that alleviates my worries a little. It should be fine just have to take it easy on the speed bumps and driveways.

Didn't have any problems on getting in and out of my garage (apt. complex underground garage ), in and out of any supermarket underground entrance or over speedbumps.

I do pay attention to hitting the curbs ... also, the GTA 2 view (top view) helps a bit in judging the distance :P (stop as soon as the car's rear is in the spot)

I've got a 335xi msport and had the bottom scrape a couple times. If you feel under the bumper there are a couple bolts there (likely scraped that). Expect it to happen a couple times. I drive/park a lot and don't run into issues too often. You can usually tell when its a curb to avoid. In your X1 you just never paid attention to it.

I echo what others have said here about parking...backup park. Don't trust the parking sensors to catch the curb. I've had the misfortune of shedding a bit of paint on my front left from a curb (thought I had the turn...clearly not!).

I still have the front MPerformance front lip.

You just need to be vigilant and there is no need to park over a pavement when parking head-in.
Driveways etc you might need to take at an angle otherwise just drive slowly into them
