Does BMW still do bullet proof?
I remember when I first came to Poland in 1999 they had a bullet proof (resistant) 3 series sitting in the show room for sale.
Life has become normal in Poland since then, but curious, does BMW still do the bullet proof version of their cars? Watching the Cape Town review made me think of this (and if you haven't seen it, it is an enjoyable 4 series review) |

Light armoring can be done on any vehicle, as a custom job. Not sure if the factory does it.
Hard armoring(rifle proofing) is generally a factory job done specifically under contract or by commission as you basically need a complete redesign of the entire frame of the car to support the armors weight. I have quite a bit of time driving heavily armored SUVs...if it's done properly by the factory, you can get better than stock performance...and be bullet proof of course...just FYI, on a HAV.. A car that would cost 50k will cost over triple by the time she's done. |

Yes, BMW still operates a security division that produces bullet resistant cars. To my knowledge they only do 7ers and X5s.
