Power steering fluid out ?

2010 335xi 41k miles. Warranty ended one month ago CPO kicked in.

Wheel is hard to turn and doesn't turn back and became very stiff. Also making all sorts of creaky groany whiny noises.

Is the power steering fluid out? Anyway to check?

CPO covers it?

Check the power steering reservoir. It's on the driver side to the right of the airbox/snorkel.

Here you go added some pics. It looks OK to me what you guys think? Looks really dirty though. Now I am worried because if fluid is okay whats the problem?

The steering wheel got stiff two days ago after the car sat for a week and half. I felt it Tuesday morning but it was fine all day today (just a lil stiff) I had to pickup a friend from work and while waiting for her I was parked idling for 15 min.

Upon leaving her work I noticed some weird noises from the steering wheel. It sounded like a creaky, groaning, whiny noise. It was squeaking so bad like a child's toy that you squeeze. This was happening when I moved the wheel in any direction.

Went for lunch came back adjusted the wheel by moving it up and down and the noise is pretty much gone but now the wheel is STIFF and when making a full turn doesn't come all the way back.

Why are you so worried? You have CPO. Take it back to the dealer and let them figure it out.

I am worried because my car is FBO and I don't want to deal with the BS that comes with that.

Anyway I didn't realize there is a stick that measures it and my PS fluid is not even at one tick mark should be at the two tick mark. Going to top it off tomorrow.

Yeah bottom tick is min. Think there could be a leak in the system?

Could be a leak but I don't think it hasn't been topped off or changed within the 41k miles. I remember for whatever reason I took off the cap a few weeks ago and maybe it was not put on correctly and some of it "evaporated" out.

I am going to buy some fluid tomorrow and top it off and hopefully the issues go away. I had my washer fluid leak out twice last year and now its fine. So IDK LOL.

If it's got air in there it might squeak for a little bit til it all gets out. Did you try going left to right to lock a bunch of times? Idk that might help but if not GL.
