I went back to the dealer several times, but problem comes back each time.

I've have the same problem

From your picture it looks like its the driver side. I had my wiper blades replaced about a week after I bought the car and it never got much better. Probably an issue with the design.

That type of problem is usually from old rubber on teh blades or the blades not making proper contact with the window.

Do they make a noise aswell when moving ?

Sorry, it is the driver side.

My wiper blades are replaced two times, the problem comes back each time.

This is SO WEIRD! i've been having the same exact issue since I got the car.

They have changed the wiper arms and 3 times the wiper (on the driver side, on the same exact spot at yours!)

The problem comes back within a month, on the same spot every time. i'm beginning to think that the issue is the glass and not the wiper. I know of 3 other people with the same car as ours at my work, none have this issue.

the wiper blades are shit since new, I picked my car brand new from dealership during a rainy day and it was already on sub-par level.
It is worse these days, freezing temperatures 2 weeks now, snow, a lot o salt on the road, and about 20% of the windshield real estate is covered in salt, because the wipers are horrible.
Replacing blades does not change anything, the whole design of the wipers is not optimal.

This is something that has drove me crazy since I got my X1, no matter how much windshield washer fluid you spray... there's always a spot or streak. Only on the drivers side and right in the path of vision. Bringing it in for an unrelated problem soon and will ask them to replace the blades, I'll update after I get it back although don't have much hope after reading the replies here.

Hmm is there anyone on here who does not have this issue? Does not inspire much confidence for those of us yet to pick up their cars

Sad to say but your gonna have issues with any car man, unfortunately they don't rear their ugly head until that specific situation arises.

No problems wit the 3 RHD owner I spoke to today and we have had a number of very rainy weeks lately

The RHD wipers are different from the LHD ones

This has worked for all cars ive fixed with noisy wipers that leave streaks (quite a few, but no X1 with problems here yet)

You could also try Aquapel on the windscreen.
Works very well. Even sold by BMW (but at quite a markup compared to other sources)

Also if some are doing it from new I wonder if there is some sort of transport coating on the windscreens dealers are not removing properly?
I totally stripped the ones here of any coatings using detailing detergent before detailing them and they have not reported any problems.

No problems with my RHD here in Australia. My approach is to clean the windscreen regularly (at least every fortnight, more frequently if traveling on damp, dirty roads) and also change wiper blades every year. My experience has been that contaminants on the screen are usually the problem, which results in erratic wiper performance and wear on the rubbers. I also use BMW washer cleaner additive -- I probably should use something generic and cheaper, but it's a concentrate....

RHD UK xLine 8 months old, 3600 miles. I do not have this problem. I am still on my original fill of washer fluid so you can tell I do not do much driving in foul weather. I bought 5L of BMW washer fluid ready as I heard of problems with mixing different fluids. I had to have a new Windscreen (HUD version) very early on due to a large crack from a stone hit - other than this no problems at all with the X1

I've just replaced the drivers blade on mine after 10 months for this very reason and so far the Bosch Aerotwin blade has cured the problem. There was noticeable deterioration of the rubber and I don't think the blade was lying flat on the glass any more.

I notice this on my wifes x1 after i came across this thread. I saw same markings on the driver side above steering wheel.
I did applied rain-x on all windows few months before winter so i think wiper arm needs to be adjusted.

I have had my wiper arm replaced by BMW. the problem returns after exactly 2 weeks even with new wipers!
To entertain me, i suggested to the dealer to replace the wiper on a loaner X1 to see if the blade is to blame. To mine and their shock, the problem didn't appear on the loaner's window. So they just replaced my wiper and the problem appeared again.

going this Saturday to see if they have another solution!
