Petrol versions seem to be on longest lead time - ordered my X1 xDrive20i xLine on 15th January and it is only going into production week commencing 18th April and delivery expected week commencing 9th May.

Seems to apply to all petrol versions - xLine, M-Sport etc.

Back in January I was able to get about 6.8% discount before availability was recognised as a problem.

Our 20d took about 9 weeks from order to delivery, but that was ordered late last year.
Can't comment on discounts as ours wasn't a straight forward deal.

Diesels are coming quicker than petrol, seems to be plenty of slots already in the system, ordered today for delivery mid June, production mid May.

As for discount, I was offered 1500-2000 without pushing, but then managed to get much more than that through military discount, but obviously that requires you to be in the military or close family.

xDrive 20d xLine, ordered on 20th of Feb, confirmed for production on 24th of March expected delivery week 16. Again can't comment on discount as deal wasn't really straightforward but I didn't manage to take off too much (I also had a bit of necessity to close the deal early).

Discount

Current discount on an Xdrive20i (Sport or M-Sport) using the coast2coast web site is about 8.5%.

I've just spec'd an xDrive20i Sport to £37,005. Discount = £3126 (=8.44%) so on-the-road price = £33879

Up until the end of March, it was consistently 6% - so maybe something to do with the new financial year?

Also noticed the official BMW price have gone up by £160 for all X1 models since January , but sliding rear bench is now standard kit (was £195 option).

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm finding it tempting to tick quite a few options which really bumps up price ! My wife likes the X line. What do you think are the must have options?

After lurking a lot here, I'd never go without HUD.

Personaly I'd go for auto with paddles then....pano roof / cruise (basic) and non runflats. I would also go for sport seats, which from memory are an option on the xline. I also think xline is the best look.

I guess all things are a matter of personal taste however we really like it as it makes the interior very light and airy + on those occassional sunny days gives a nice "open top" experience. We have oyster leather which again makes the interior light, however I wouldn't recommend this if you are transporting young kids I would say that for me auto is top priority followed by the pano roof.

Auto
HUD
Sports seat if not M Sport
Pano roof
Folding mirrors
Rear camera
Harmon Kardon
Memory seats
Comfort access

That's the order I would go in in terms of priority, I've added more than this to mine though.

Yes, good point The Beast, I forgot rear camera ! I'm so used to them coming as standard I forgot they are an option on BMW.... absolutely would not be without it ,as we have a couple of tricky gates to reverse through. Yes I know it's got reversing sensors however the camera just makes everything easier.

Just ordered a BMW X1 xDrive 25d xLine today. Includes Comfort Pack, Reverse Camera, Sports Seat (Oyster/Black), Lumbar, and in Mineral White. Dealer quoted me a very vague June date. My last Gran Tourer I Ordered last July took 7 weeks till delivery!! I hope my X1 doesn't take longer as I can't wait!

Quick update on delivery times - can confirm that my car (xLine 20d) is now in the UK and it should reach the dealer on 20th of April - that's 2 months after order (21st of February).

(obviously I can't wait!)

Good Luck mate and hope you enjoy your car when you pick it up!

I was rung by my dealer yesterday that my car was going in for production week 19. I make that the second week of May??. How long after a production week should a car reach dealers folks ? I can't wait!!

My car was confirmed for production week 12. I'm getting it between week 15 and 16 (actually today the dealer contacted me confirming that it may be with them anytime now), so I'd say that you should get your car early June if they're consistent.

You can notice the difference between the Harmon-Karden upgrade and the standard. They are certainly better than the middle range BMW enhanced speaker system we had in our last 3 series.

That's a very subjective question and not one you'll get a definitive answer from...for me, I'd spec it purely as I've had it on my previous E90 & F30. Others may see it as an expensive option for something they'll get minimal value from.

I've had two loan X1's, one with and one without HK. The standard system in the first X1 wasn't all that (to me) and reinforced my view that I'd choose HK if I were to order an X1. The second X1 had HK and I enjoyed my music a lot more... however be aware that there is no Logic 7 option or even equaliser as in other implementations of HK in BMW cars. Not a deal breaker for me however it is a bit of a pain as the settings aren't anywhere near as configurable without the equaliser.
