Order placed!

Finally got my order in today.

xDrive 25e MSport+ and Tech2 with bike rack preparation.

Ran out of money at this point, so I have had to order Alpine White rather than my preferred Storm Bay metallic.

No idea when I'll actually see it - a week ago I was quoted end of June, but that is highly unlikely to happen now.

I think the color of the vehicle is more important than some rarely used options. Definitely pick a color you love. White, is the most boring color and doesn't look good on a Beemer or any luxury car for that matter.

Thing is, MSport+ and Tech Pack 2 are things I will use.

I could have done without 19" wheels, but the tinted windows and Harman Kardon are things I definitely wanted and with Tech Pack 2 you get the larger nav. screen and HUD. Again, good options which get used.

Bike rack prep. is also a must have.

Due to the bizarre pricing of our company car portal, it just worked out best to sacrifice colour for options - if we could still top up monthly payments, I'd have paid for metallic myself.

Ultimately, it's not really my car, and if UK taxation wasn't so heavily biased towards hybrids, I've have had a 520d MSport - when you've compromised on the car already, compromising on colour isn't so bad!

Congrats. Looking forward to hear about your experience with the hybrid.

You may be waiting some time! Can't see me getting it before Q4 this year, possibly not until Q1 2021.

Garage List
Congratulations.
I will most likely trade our 20d for a 25e after summer.

Well this is highly subjective, you know. For me, white looks the best on an X1, expecially XLine model with black bars. Saying white looks bad on any luxury car is ridiculous .

This is what it will look like - I really don't think it looks that bad.

I have an old Alfa Romeo 75 in white (Milano for the Americans) - still looks great - and our Japanese camper van is pearl white.

My last 2 BMWs have been Mediterranean Blue and Valencia Orange, though.

Colour is very much a personnal choice.
Our e84 was Black , and it looked fantastic for the short time it stayed clean, then it looked a mess
Our f48 is Mineral White , which looks great when clean , but still keeps a good apperance when dirty. We bought this car 2 month old with 2,000 miles on the clock,so had no choice on colour.
The car is fitted with Y Spoke 566 wheels , which are very hard to clean, even after buying a set of BMW brush's to assist.

Been a strange few months, it was only a colleague mentioning the forum that reminded me I'd registered...

My car still hasn't actually been ordered with a BMW dealer. The lease company have been absolutely useless throughout the UK's lockdown. Seems like they furloughed loads of people, or put them onto home working with no proper monitoring.

Frustrating, as every month this is delayed costs me £300. Even more frustrating is paying £400 / month company car tax and not doing a single mile in it for 3 months!

My F48 is also Mineral White with 566 wheels - and yes they are a bitch to clean but do look a LOT better than the standard wheels.

I use Auto Finesse cleaning products but even the Imperial wheel cleaner, special brushes and Karcher does not do the job very well.

Then I tried Iron Out (Contaminant Remover) - this is the one that turns Purple which indicates that it is doing the job - this also benefits from being agitated with a brush - then a good wash off. There was an immediate obvious improvement and was still turning Purple indicating more to come off. I ordered another 5 litres of this and hope to see further improvement at next wash.

One proviso - it is not cheap - £59.95 for 5 litres or £11.95 for 500ml to try it out. I had 1 litre to start with and used most of that on the BMW and our Mini - big improvement on both
