Picked up X1 xDrive 20i xLine MW today

It has finally arrived - ordered 15th January - delivered 29th April.

I have only driven a few miles home today and spent this afternoon dodging rain showers to apply protective coat of "Showroom Shine".

Just took a few quick pics at the dealership until I have more time / better weather to get some more pics.

Everything appears to be as ordered - just need to spend a week finding out how it all works.

I would also like to thank all members of the forum for various inputs which enabled me to adjust my ordered specification for the better - many thanks all

It was a bit difficult to tell under all the raindrops - ha ha. No, seriously, it was sunny some of the time this afternoon and it did look nice. Then I had to squeeze it into my garage ready for tomorrow

Enjoy - you'll be sitting in your driveway puzzling the neighbours as you translate the manual into English.

A few more photo's

A few more photo's to show:
The 566 alloys better

The possible range of the rear sliding seat (I got that free as I did not originally spec it but the standard spec changed before my car was built). Also shows one of the changes I made thanks to this forum - originally went with standard Gloss Black trim then realised that it did not have the pearl chrome (or any) finisher on the doors and so changed to the Fineline Matt Oak (also due to comments about dust, fingerprints and scratches on the Gloss Black)

The oyster headlining (I don't like dark interiors)
Also very pleased with the HUD - realised that when I was out and about yesterday morning I never once looked at the speedo on the dash. Was picking up the change in speed limit within about 5-10 metres of passing the signs - can't say if that was Sat Nav or Camera.

I was originally looking at Jaguar XE, Audi A3 Saloon, Audi Q3 and BMW 3 Series or X1 - boy am I glad I chose the X1! The decision was 90% made the first time we sat in the X1 in a parking lot at the dealer - somehow it just felt right

Excellent photos Bill. Thanks for the side profile of the car with the 566 alloys. I've opted for the Oyster interior to but with the standard chrome. Was very tempted with the Mineral White but went for the Atlantic Grey. Can't wait for mine now that I see more and more photos of cars leaving the dealerships! Got 9 weeks of waiting

Congratulations, Bill. I had no idea oyster seats could be ordered without anthracite headlining. It was the only choice when I ordered mine.

After black sapphire MW would be my next choice! Looks stunning with the satin silver detailing!

You managed to drive it much yet Bill, what are your thoughts?

Have not done much mileage yet unfortunately - we were caught on the hop in the middle of a total bathroom upgrade as the car was not due until this coming week. We have a bit longer journey due next Sunday but only about 150 miles.

Having said that I have been really impressed by every aspect of the X1 - I can not think of a single negative issue (apart from availability of key covers - I have a black one due Tuesday and a Mocha by the end of the month!).

I particularly like:

The gearbox - hardly notice the shifts at all - obviously driving very gentle at the moment.

The HUD - awesome - no, it does not get in the way but it does really keep you on top of the speed limits.

Comfort Access - totally used to locking and unlocking with the key in a pocket but still reaching to take out the (phantom) key after stopping the engine.

Voice Commands - just starting to use this and was very impressed - was not expecting too much.

Really quiet - hardly ever hear the engine at the moment.

I still have lots of exploring to do - only found the engine temperature gauge a couple of days ago.

Overall score at the moment - I would have to give it 10/10 as I have not found anything I am not happy with

RE keyless entry, my experience in the first few weeks was pretty much the exact opposite of yours! I had it on my previous 2 cars, but didn't order it on the X1. Going back to using the key fob after six years was a real pain.

Have to agree, it's awesome. I had it on my E70 but don't on my F10, you soon get used to using a key again. However having it on the F48 has reminded me how such a small option makes life so much easier...
