BMW X2 M35i - New Radar Detector Project
Hi.
So with all the tuning box testing that I have done, I have come to realize that the current radar detector, although it works very well, is always false because of all the cars on the road with blind spot monitoring systems and such. I mean I usually can put up with this, but honestly, I said F-it and thought about how annoyed the wife gets when riding along with me as well. So I bought an Uniden R7. I did research between that and the Escort 360c - but dayam - that thing is north of $500 bux by two bills. I took out my current radar detector and mount last night, and measured things up. I already have a mirror-tap, and am hoping that the custom mount I installed last time, albeit, I cleaned up a bit, will work this time for the R7. Not sure if the Escorts and Unidens have the same with metal tongue and slot. When I receive the R7 today, I'll update the firmware and install it into the car and share pics. Stay tuned! https://uniden.com/products/r7-extre...reat-detection |

I have a Escort Passport 8500 X50 and didn’t have success with the rear view mirror wire tap, I didn’t get consistent voltage. Easy fix involved a fuse wire tap behind the glove box, using a 5 amp slot. It turns off automatically after 5 minutes when the car powers down. Easy to run the wiring behind the door seals and trim - you can’t see any signs of wires. Solid voltage, works perfectly.
