Hi y’all,

With this thread I want to share my experience with CarPlay activation in my mother’s new X1 F48.
The car is equipped with ID6 entrynav2 (small screen).

As my mother is all day long on the road, CarPlay would’ve been a nice option. But BMW told her it’s not possible to retrofit CarPlay on her specific car.

I reached out to kubax86 as I had some previous experiences with him when it comes to activation of CarPlay on BMW.
He asked me to check if the headunit had a WLAN Wifi connector at the back of the unit. So I took off the trim and took out the headunit to check out the connectors at the back. While doing this, I noticed the purple connector at the back. I bought a wifi antenna en connected it.

After this, I connected an ENET cable to the car and kubax86 successfully remotely activated Apple Carplay in the F48 in just a couple of minutes.

The result is a fully working Apple Carplay on the small entrynav screen.

Conclusion, if your car is equipped with this unit. Take it out and check if there’s a WLAN connectivity connector and reach out to him. He’ll be happy to help.

Is it possible that the fsc 143 OEM is no longer needed to activate carplay? Is a non-OEM fsc generated?

An fsc is needed if you want a permanent solution, that is a solution that will not be lost as soon as BMW do an update. In fairness, most owners probably do not have to worry but whenever a car is in workshop for service or repair it is possible an update will be carried out and the hack will be lost. I understand a permanent solution with a genuine BMW fsc code cost €500 and temporary solutions are whatever people are prepared to pay, I have seen USD 200 being asked.

I activated mine as well (on the same screen), howeer I did not buy any wifi antenna. I also bought a geniunie FSC code from BMW, since I was told that was the safest way to not void my warranty and keep CarPlay forever.

Activation on entrynav2 does not void warranty.

I do not know coding (besides doing very simple C+ codes in school), so plain english would be great to understand what i need to buy and how to install.

I have an X1 F48 (2016), entrynav without navigation. Is this even an option for a vehicle this old? Is it worth tearing things apart to check for a WLAN cable? It's my 1st BMW, I'm looking for the cheapest possible option to add Carplay and have no coding experience whatsoever.

you have an nbt - you can't code in carplay. you need to either replace the HU & screen which is $1k+ or get an mmi box or droid screen if you want carplay.

Hello, I have a x1 f48 from 2019 with an entrinav2 module without WLAN and I have bought a scrapyard one from 2017 with WLAN. Can you tell me how I can pair it with my VIN and activate WLAN (CarPlay), full touch screen and extended Bluetooth?
