Cheap bastard wants to lower his e92 M3
Hi Guys
Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse on this one. I want to lower my car in the spring. I have been looking at the different lowering springs available for the e92 M3, and I would love your opinions. I really don't think I need coil overs. I don't track my car. I just want a nice clean drop while retaining as much of the stock comfort as possible. I plan on getting a set of 20's in the future, but for now will be using the factory 19's. No EDC. I'd like to go as low as possible without messing anything up or ruining the ride. The B&G stage 2 springs seems to be a good drop. 1" in the from .5" in the rear. What do you guys say. Are springs on $70,000 car stupid? Or is it acceptable for someone who doesnt track their car. |

Springs are quite normal. Any of the big names will do fine. They all lower the same.

It's fine. I've tried Eibach Springs, H&R Springs, and RD Sport springs, and my favorite were the RD's. Nicest looking drop with good ride quality. Eibach were the most comfortable, but gave the least drop. H&R is in between as far as drop goes, but wasn't all that great of a ride. Worse than RD, which dropped more too.

Eibach is my personal preference. Best ride quality out of all of them from what I felt. RD gives the best drop though, so it depends (also the price goes up - so if you really want to stay cheap, go with eibach )

A sleeve over kit my be a good solution for you as well. Ground Control and KW currently make kits. Will give you some height adjust-ability.

What's your opinion on the e36 bump stops I've been reading about. Is this something important when doing only springs on an M3? |

When setting up customers in the past with springs, they never mentioned to me that they had issues, but if you want to be extra cautious and purchase extra bump stops, then I don't see a problem with it. I wouldn't say it's 100% necessary, but that's totally up to you! I personally ran with springs without them, just FYI.

Yes it does - ideal if you have EDC. Do a search for Ground Control or KW Sleeve over and it should give you and idea of your options. Good luck!

I've been riding on Eibach springs and have been extremely happy with them. Not only is the drop perfect but the ride is great also.

check attached pics of KW sleeve over kit installed on my car, you retain EDC and can adjust height at your convenience, a bit stiffer but great handling, no bouncing at all

I had springs, and then took them off, they took away from the comfortability of the ride, maybe they were just the spring i had (H&R)? Moved to KW V3s

Plenty of images out there if you search. I even put up a direct comparison of my RD Sport before and afters a while back, which a certain vendor "borrowed". |

Here are some side by side photos:
<<< Stock ----- Eibach >>> <<< Eibach ----- Stock >>> Stock The stance is perfect for me but if you want to slam it then Eibachs are not for you. |

Even with Eibach the car looks stock height. If you want to see a really noticeable drop I would go with coilovers or RD springs. Done and done.
