I don't have a weekend car per say, but as someone who likes cars I tend to have more cars than needed. Up until recently I had 4 and it's just me and my gf and we work from home so they don't get driven that much. I sold the mustang recently as I feel prices will be dropping some and I got a good offer on it.

You could say the mustang was the "weekend" car but I drove it whenever I wanted to so not really. If I had a place to keep it in the NC house I probably would have as I enjoy driving it up there. Here in FL it's pretty boring and too much traffic all the time. I love the model 3 as a commuter car. I think it's super easy to drive in traffic and also fun to floor it on the highway which is basically all I can really do in FL anyways.

We use the Cayenne as a second car here in FL and drive it back and forth to NC. I keep the F350 up there as I really have no use for it here in FL. I also have our RV up there which we need to the truck to tow it. So for now the setup works well for us and 3 cars seems like a good fit. I'm sure I will eventually get the itch for another "sporty" car and if/when prices come down I might bite on something. Right now I would be leaning towards a C8 or a Boxster or Cayman, but prices would have to come down significantly, what they are asking for used C8s is ridiculous IMO.

Just bought my brothers GTI Golf for a daily, to save my loved E46 from the harsh winter up here.

Someone could use the term "weekend car" for the non-daily, but here in Finland most call them summer cars and drive them mostly in the summertime when the weather is nice. In the winter there's plenty of time to service and modify the summer cars so that when the warm weathers arrive again, there's nothing to worry, just drive and enjoy.

If you love driving as I do, life is simply too short to drive an appliance unless you absolutely have to for a particular task (like needing to haul multiple people comfortably or need to carry a bunch of stuff).

So no more "weekend cars" for me. Actually, I never had a weekend car anyway. I had rainy-day, utilitarian vehicles, to avoid driving my fun stuff in the rain, or of course used when I needed to haul around people or stuff.

But I rarely haul stuff any more, and I rarely have to carry more than one person (unless it's children), so all fun, coupes for me. Even drive them in the rain now.

And when I need to haul multiple people or stuff, I use Turo, family, or friends.

And oh, the money I'm saving now not having an appliance sitting around for the few times used it (which was as little as possible).

Hi, I'm Mark and I'm a caraholic.....

If I had the space and more money (or just not married with no kids) I'd have even more....

My only true "weekend" vehicles are water toys.

I have three different cars and all of them have their purpose

F32 for the long commutes, errands, etc...

JLUR for the off-road excursions, Rams game tailgating, winter trips to Tahoe, toy hauler, etc...

718 Cayman to get my manual fix and canyon carving

the water rockets

My weekend car is my GT4. Only about 3000 miles on the clock after 2 years of ownership and I use it only for backroad oder mountain driving.

My job is 100% travel around the US and sometimes overseas. I have a "weekend" car that stays in a garage when I'm traveling for work and I drive around when I'm home between jobs. I drive my daily car to job sites, this way I don't worry as much about the mileage or small issues like rock chips on the front bumper and such. Not that I don't care about my daily, I try to keep it well maintained and clean, for a while it was my only vehicle and is still near and dear to me. Lol.

My daily driver is a 2015 535i and my "weekend" car is a 2016 Alpina B6.

I drive a Volvo as a daily. Why? I work in your field. Wanna trade stories on how many lives have been ruined by driving something of less than Volvo safety to and from work every day?

My BMW is my "weekend" car. My M5 is probably as safe as my volvo, but I don't know that. Plus, some granny slams into me on my way to work, I'd rather it be the Volvo. Just statistics. Most accidents occur near your home, usually during your daily routine.

It is what it is...

Yup, I daily drive an i3 and at the weekend/nice evenings, drive either an e31 840, e36 316, or e92 325 depending on which ones I have taxed for the 3 month period. I alternate and take them off the road for preventative maintenance regularly.

Yeah. Who wants to drive a Ferrari every day? Weekend cars is a misleading way to say it though. Special occasion fun car is more apt.

some of us even own "utility vehicles" that are used for specific purposes other than daily driving. i own a ford expedition that i use for towing a boat, trips to home depot / costco, and longer roadtrips with the whole family. it doesnt make sense for either my wife or me to drive the expedition every day but since it's been paid for since 2009, it's cheap to own and very useful when we need it.

I brought home a whack of furnace filters in my vert, again, got some looks, the guy a the furnace place died laughing. Had em in the frunk, front seat, back seats, drove off and he's dying. It's pretty useless for carrying shit but in a pinch, if there already, one can make it work to a degree.

Groceries are easy, they can be stacked in the frunk and/or placed on the floor of the back seats. Well that's tough in a Miata but you get my drift.
