X2 rear foglight..almost

Today i hacked in on my light switch to see if i can activate my rear fogs just like what i did on my old E90 rear fogs. Unfortunately, BMW decided not to pre-wire the rear fog bulb on the rear hatch (cost-cutting on USDM versions again!)...bummer. There is one wire missing on the lens assembly electrical plug on the hatch door.

Remove the tabs:

I just did a jumper wire to activate the rear fog bulbs to light up as my park light/running light since BMW deleted the 4th wire on the plug.

Emmm... did you look at the other threads on rear foglight? I just coded mine on a month or two ago.. The switch is there and just needed a shave. I have a 2019 model fyi. Well.. you got it to work either way.

Yes i did shaved/trimmed the tabs on the blank button shown on my pic above, rear fogs did not light up, found out the rear fog light module was not pre-wired (missing 4th wire on the plug) by BMW therefore it won't light up whether you code it or not.

jon328i when you coded did you have any issues with warranty? Or is this type of coding irrelevant to warranty? Mine warranty through 2026 so I do not want to mess with anything up until then.

I coded my ‘19. Shouldn’t affect warranty.
Last time I was in for the telematics recall they told me they would have to update the software and all my coding would be gone and I would have to recode. Didn’t take long.
