Saying Hi: New to me F80 M3

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey everyone, just popping over to this forum to say hi.

Recently picked up a 2015 F80 M3 and this car does not disappoint.

Hoping to get familiar with the platform and learn more about the car. I like to DIY and this forum and community seem to have a lot of good knowledge.

Recently finished building a 2013 Aston Martin V8V and now moving on to the F80 M3.

Specs:
2015 F80 M3 Yas Marina Blue with Sakhir Orange Interior.
6 Speed Manual
Mileage 38K
Carbon Roof
Dinan Backbox

Plans:
Power: Tune with AAW Equal Length Midpipe Resonated. (Seems like this is a popular winner to help with the exhaust note of an S55 motor). The previous owner was nice enough to transfer the warranty so I don't want to do this just yet. Maybe when it expires. Also its my daily so dont want anything extreme in terms of power and sound. Its quite fast enough.

Exterior: Carbon lip, sides, rear diffuser. I like the PSM front lip and rear diffuser. I think it will go well with the carbon spec'd roof.

Wheels and Suspension: Not sure yet. Need to do more research.

QUESTIN: For carbon exterior parts can you guys tell me if these sites listedd below are resellers or make their carbon and if they do make their own, the quality of the carbon? I've seen mixed reviews all over the place. Thanks

I miss my '15 M3. That model year had an absolute beast of a stock tune on it, the car felt like a caged animal. I believe they muted it quite a bit the following year. My M2 is not nearly as raw or snappy as my M3 was on the stock tune. It's something I'll remember for a while!

Congratulations on your F80 M3. The Aston Vantage also looks gorgeous. Could you post a few more pics of the Aston Vantage? It was a dream car of mine a few years back.
PS:
Since your location is Maryland... Just had to ask, do your work for the Government?

I am extremely impressed by this platform. Love the styling and aggressive look and the power to back it up. It is a complete 180 driving experience from the Aston. I missed boost and with the TT, it just comes alive.

The Aston is a completely different experience. The F80 has a lot of tech in the car and has a lot of nice features. Its very easy to control and drive. The Aston is very raw GT experience. Best way to describe it is you are fighting the steering wheel compared to the F80. I love the country roads in the Aston and not to mention it is a jaw dropper anywhere you go. Not many Astons on the road. More lambos, GT3Rs and Ferrairs around here.

Also I do not work for the Govt. But it seems as if everyone around here does.

Ill post more Aston photos because I have plenty. Took me 4 years to get it to where it is now.

Bro, I wanted a V8 Vantage so bad I could taste it, but I'm 5'4" and look like I'm 35. I think I'd look like an idiot getting out of it. But I love them so. Maybe one day.

You really can't go wrong with an F80, and the red/blue Superman theme is perfect (I might be biased).

Looks like you're a real car guy, so welcome!

Nice choice my friend!! If interested in getting it coded to F82 2020 M4 GTS OEM package I know a guy. For reference: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1420347. Major differences in overall feel with extremely heavy steering in Sport+, reminiscent of E-series chassis. My guy also upgraded the HK audio to Bang & Olufsen amongst other things. He did it remotely over the internet and not too pricey considering. Enjoy your vehicle!!

Thanks! I dont think you would look like an idiot getting out of one of those. If you ever need help finding one, let me know. I know these cars inside and out (at least for the Gaydon era Vantages). I also run the DMV Aston Martin Owners Group and host tech days for the guys to come over to wrench on the cars. Good times all around. Reach out if you have any questions when you search for them. Happy Holidays!

Bro, you and I will have to talk, as it's fear of wrenching on them that has really kept me from getting one.

Sell the Superman M2 and get an Aston? Maybe so...

Sure thing, PM me with whatever questions you have. They are fairly simple cars to work on as they are all hand-built. So the mentality is if someone hand built them, I can also do and undo things to the car. I've fully modded the Vantage, full power pack with stage 3 tune and full suspension. Full carbon interior and exterior. Although they are not hard to work on, the parts are expensive, hence why it took me over 4 years to slowly put it all together.

Love the M2 and color combo! If you can, I would keep the M2 and buy a 4.7L Vantage. Great combos

Merry Christmas!

I'm usually not one for modding hardcore, just the basics really. I think I've pushed it a bit far with the M2, especially with wheels and brakes. If I get a Vantage it'll just be the standard mods with a great set of wheels.

I already have a 2nd toy, which unfortunately means I have no room for a 3rd, so the M2 would have to go.

Love the Lotus! One of the best-handling cars I've driven. That is a hard choice between the M2 and Lotus. Keep both and add a Vantage !

Wife is welsh. Love the countryside of Wales as a lot of the famous James Bond scenes were filmed in the country hills of Wales. I have always loved the Aston Martin Gaydon Era cars as there are no bad angles and extremely rare. Over its 18 years, I believe they only produced 18k total Aston Martins (all model ranges). Extremely rare to find a 6 speed manual like I have. Took me over 7 years to find the right one.
