Reminds me when C/D compared the specs/dimensions to a 3er Wagon and found them to be very similar!

And the X2 is 4" shorter than the old X1. I know FWD architecture is blasphemy in the traditional BMW world, but I really think it suits the new X1/2 because of how proportional they look now.

Despite this though, its too pricey, so if you want a hot hatch buy a GTI, if you want an SUV, buy the X1, thats where the problem is with the X2. I've seen more loaner badged X2's as well as CarMax/used X2's than actual X2's that have owners. I can definitely see why its on BMW's list of cars that may end production after this generation.

I thought about getting a golf R but I really liked the m35i since I heard about it. You’re right though, not many in the wild. I think the engine will end up as a mid tier option in anything with a 4 cylinder, basically making the stock b46 the 20i then the 35i engine with an msport i6 being the upper non full m version.
We’re probably just guinea pigs for reliability studies. I’m all for it though, it will bring parts faster when more platforms have it. |

I just think for the money, a GTI/Golf R could provide more thrills with similar practicality for less, or a regular SUV would provide better utility for the same price, hell even a 4GC could be equipped for a similar price but provide RWD and still decent utility. The X2 is just one of those cars where its the answer to a question no one asked.

You can get a much better price if you work for it. Mine was 4K less than sticker even after taxes.

I got almost $4K off sticker plus will get the USAA discount. Too bad you can’t also add the BMWCCA rebate.
I don’t consider the X2 cramped, it feels very much like the M2 inside, snug. Just right for spirited driving. |

Yeah price is not really an issue if you get a great deal. I ended up $4400 off sticker plus $3250 apr credit, $1000 loyalty and should get $500 from bmwcca.. all told over 9 grand off.. I think it’s an awesome car

For me, I simply set a price range and made a short list of what I absolutely wanted/needed. 1. premium brand 2. top safety rating 3. 0-60 less than 6 sec 4. sporty handling 5. design 6. compact exterior size (urban driving) 7. sufficient interior space (no kids, no large dog) My decision was made after test driving the 430GC, 330xi, XC40, A4, A3, C300, previous Q3 and GLA. |
