i'm gonna 'wait for the LCI' for the full body color treatment...

Those gray rocker panels remind me of the early E36 325

lower slung roof is all.. perhaps a slightly lower ride height as well.. it's built on the same chassis as the X1.. so stylng is sportier.. but not much.

Not much different.

The concept was much better.

It's like do you want relaxed or fitted.

Just when I thought we got past/rid of those hideous round, too high placed fog lights and the horrible hood cut line. That lower front bumper area is horrendous. talk about a brace face. SMH...

This also makes me not very hopeful for the upcoming 8 series production car compared to what we were shown.

An msport variant of some sort or another could more closely match the concept, with larger front intakes, body matched moulding, etc.

Nope!

That will hopefully never happen. But I'm happy with the M2's price point. A 40k "M" would basically be a Civic Type-R or GTI competition at a time when most enthusiasts are already complaining BMW is turning into Honda in terms of mass appeal.

I don't know bmw could be accused of " turning into Honda " ... they've been making 135 hatchbacks for a decade or more and of course the E36 had a hatchback as well. Bringing an M135 to the US doesn't change the company mission. :

I recall a statement where BMW was saying they had too many models. Good to see they are sticking to their guns on that one.

wasn't a fan of the concept and not a fan of the actual either. the grill is bad but the Asian design feel is the real problem. people who want that look have a market.....its called Lexus and Infiniti. those of us who want German cars are being shut out by all 3 of the luxury German brands who keep bringing us weird alien looking designs. looks like my 6 will be the last bimmer I ever own

So it's getting the roundel on the C pillars...didn't think that would make the production version

What is the point? Honestly I'm hard pressed to find a person who says "the X1 is not for me... but the x2... now that car suits my needs"

Yeah but that isn't an M car. Thought the person I replied to wants another "M1" and isn't a US market M140 likely to be well above $40k?

Doesn't seem necessary. Seems as though the X1 and X3 fill both voids for any need this would have.

Agree on both counts. If BMW were to try bring a less expensive M car than the M2 it would have to be based on a 135 hatch.

They would have to call it the 1M hatch.. perhaps 1Mti .or maybe the " 1tiM" or " M1ti"

Tougher than finding a good name for it would be trying to make it reach a $40k price point. I honestly don't think they could do it for less than $42,995.

A 230 with track package , m sport package only is $37,350 and more suspension and more motor would be involved.
