Woodcliff Lake, NJ – July 3, 2017…
Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 0.4 percent in June for a total of 28,962 compared to 28,855 vehicles sold in June 2016. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 2.8 percent in the U.S. on sales of 149,086 vehicles compared to 153,436 sold in the first six months of 2016.

“The volatility that has characterized much of early 2017 is likely to continue through the second half of the year, requiring an even stronger focus on the quality of our business to achieve the desired results,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “We’re pleased to see the new BMW 5 Series sedan continues gaining strength as availability increases, and our Sports Activity Vehicles, especially the X1 and X5, remained strong favorites in June.”

Well it's atleast good to see that the new bmwusa ceo mr kuhnt recognizes that the quality of the product is the issue that needs to be focused on. Question is if Germany sees it that way also or they are still in their la la bubble.

Meanwhile Tesla just announced a 53% increase in sales (22,000 total) compared to last year's Q2. With an average selling price that is well above $100k.

RIP BMW, Tesla is about to wipe the floor for luxury cars, esp with Model 3.

They won't and not just BMW. they won't be "wiping" the floor of any car maker....AT LEAST until such time that the battery cars can get serious mileage...like north of 400 miles followed by the ability to super charge within 5 mins.

I ain't standing at a charge pump for 15 mins waiting for my car to "fill up".

The New X3 will revitalise BMW's US Market. It's what everybody is waiting for.

That is a long time to wait for a fill up, luckily I can charge at work and top off at home overnight so it works out for your daily driver if you have both. Not so good for long trips to have to wait a half hour unless you're taking a bathroom break as well vs. trying to get there in the shortest time possible.

Gotta love all these Tesla Fanboys. There is nothing luxurious about the Model 3...the Model S or the Model X. From a aesthetic POV, it's got nothing going for it. From a technology POV, sure..it has it's merits...but there are quite a few up and coming models that will take it on. Heck, the Fusion Energi can go 600miles on a full charge.

Re: The X1. Didn't like it when it first came out but the design has evolved enough where it's a nice looking vehicle. I don't want FWD..but hey...there are tons that don't mind it.

RE: the 4er. NICE! It could overtake the 3 series in sales by year end. Wouldn't THAT be something???

2 sales are a surprise at being so low. What gives there?

BMWs "SUV" market, too bad the car market is still tanking. Do we really expect sale to increase that much? It's already one of the top selling models for being so out dated.

The 3 series still sold 629 units more than the 4 series last month and YTD 7356 more 3 series have been sold. Highly doubt the 4 series will end up out selling the 3.

Guessing 320 models discounted probably accounts for quite a bit of the difference. 629/50 states what..12 cars per state more? Not out of the question that the 4 can overtake the 3. Think about the choices:

320/330/330e/340- 4 engine choices, 4 models

430 coupe/GC, 440 Coupe/GC.-2 engine choices, 2 or 4 door.

The advantage is the 3 but the numbers are trending towards the 4 it appears.

I hope BMW rethinks their car lineup. Stop focusing only on technology and bring back the fun in driving.

How's that? Considering i8 production has ramped down by nearly half in anticipation of the Roadster seems like the expected numbers.

I like those sketches of the new X3. I could do with a more toned-down set of kidney grilles, but at least BMW looks like its going away from the whole 'headlight connected to the grille' look; it makes the cars look very Asian and cheap.

I drive 40 miles each day which is typical. i fill up once a week on the weekend. waiting for you car to fill up is a stretch. you forget the gas station you have at your house to do the fill up while you are asleep and most likely once a week.

if a 250 mile EV range is too small for you then you may drive commercial so an EV is not for you.
