Not being facetious - but doesn't the R8 have a Haldex system? I believe the one used in the R8 is unique, but perhaps there could be hope?
Yeah, but the power there goes naturally to the back and Haldex walks it forward when there's slip. If the X2 has its motor in the hatch, we'll be good.

I like it. If they will put a 6 cylinder turbo in it I will trade in the X1.

Would a straight six fit sideways? Volvo did it with the much larger old XC90, but I bet this is too narrow.

It will be basicly like the F48, 3 and 4 cylinder engines only. Judging by this, a less senior citizen vehicle than it's sibling - the X1. But not any new, just a rehash.

Yes, M35i. But it won't be available at launch, more likely the following model year.

Me too! Our second car is a GLA for that reason.

I had an X1 35 and lowered it because bmw doesn't make a wagon with 35-40 engine

The new X1 does not have a hood line.
This one has a hood line? !!!!!!!
This turns me off, I was waiting to see it but if comes like this they can keep it, I won't pay for such lack of attention to detail.
What is wrong with these people?
BMW, WHY ?????

The original e84 X1 x35i has the n55 turbo. Get that instead. It's also based off a proper classic BMW.

I thought BMW would pull off a mini version of the X4 with the fastback look. Instead it harkens back to the hatchback theme of the e84. This new X2 looks to be a spiritual successor to the original X1 in terms of driving dynamic goals. Or at least it is trying to portray despite it's FWD platform & transverse engine roots. Heck even the side profile is similar to the e84.

The new TT RS and RS3 are getting pretty darn good marks. The AMG *45 models have been more mixed, but that GLA45 is a neat little vehicle. If I were to get an SUV that would be it (because I ain't paying $90k-ish for a Macan Turbo, and plus, it's just too big).

I think BMW could build an amazing UKL M. And remember, nothing says it absolutely has to be Haldex. The later generation Mitsubishi EVO were transverse but nobody cares because they have an excellent performance AWD system.

Of course they do, even in rwd no less, and with manuals. You just can't have one in the US, because what you'd really like is a MINI SUV with BMW pricing.

VW/Audi has exclusive rights to the latest Haldex that sends (a very small) amount of power back at all times. MB has the two generation old version in the A/CLA/GLA45 cars, which is part of why they get poor reviews.

BMW can't put a mechanical LSD in a 340i or an M550i, they're not going to splurge and start throwing them in their gussied up Minis.

There will be a performance version of the b48 4 cyl engine.
There is no place for the R6 under the ukl's hood.

If it looked anything like concept I might see things differently.

They just watered it down so much the concepts character is gone.

To correct some posts above, the 2018 Q3 is now on the MQB platform (same one as the A3/S3/RS3/Golf/GRi/Golf R). Moderator: This is incorrect information that a simple Google search could have clarified. The next generation Q3 will be built on MQB, but as noted earlier by mkoesel, it will not debut until next year.

And it is a gorgeous looking small SUV. That said, it's a Haldex, not quattro, based AWD system which makes it an essentially front wheel drive vehicle that sends power to rear wheels as deemed necessary. Very noticeable FWD characteristics on the S3 I test drove.

As for this, a new contender for a replacement for my wife's A3 which we'll be doing in the next year. She's partial to hot hatches, but they're non-existent. She doesn't like the look of the X1, but loves the 2018 Q3 looks as well as the GLA 45 AMG (that's just too expensive for us and the GLA 250 doesn't appeal ... who wants a Car2Go as their daily driver).

I'm pretty sure Mitsu would not deploy Haldex for their top line EVO AWD drivetrain. If anything it would be some sort of Torsen diffs on steroids.

I think the X2 will be a hit with the active yuppy crowd since the X1 has bloated into a generic but more practical CUV that losts the predecessor's dynamism.

Sadly the X1 is already FWD or AWD with front-bias....they're already offering FWD in Europe Only a matter of time.....
