I'm not the target market. I drove an X1 and found it to be pleasant and good space. Drove the X3 and that feels 'big'. I think the X2 will suit a mid 20's crowd wanting to get into a BMW. Out door life style is very 'now' and this is sportier than the X1. It will sell. The X1 has done well.

I went for a sports wagon to get rear oriented drive (x-drive) and the better gear box!

Can't quite decide on which design looks closer to the X1. The actual X1 or the X2. Hmmm ...

Either way, should confuse the hell out of their target demograph.

Woohoo! An MB GLA mated with a Toyota Tacoma!

Actually I only really dislike the direction they're going with the kidney grilles. Looks too catfish like, JUST like on the Tacoma. And then there's pretty much a flattening out and elimination of the hofmeister kink

I do like the retro BMW badging on the C-pillar though

I do not like the two-toned side skirt panels, it makes it look like a cheap Subaru.

The front sides and rear looks nice, I like the side mirrors. The C pillar badging looks super cool, I'd like BMW to design element throughout there lineup.

It actually reminded me of a Citroen Cactus blended with F48.
Not the spicy X2 concept we were shown.
Actually i think the gap between the concept and the actual car is far to big, and i start to question why this model is made in the first place, what sets it apart from the F48?
Is it the upside down kindey, the badge on the C pilar?
I though the X2 was suposed to be a more spicy and youthful X1, which imo, is kinda cheap and dull, it's UKL so, not much to be expected anyway!

Me neither...

I'm gonna reserve judgement on this one until we actually see a painted production car with full M Sport bodykit (anyone know when the reveal is due??) because that COULD look quite nice... but we'll see won't we!!

A monochrome Photostat of a base model isn't going to look 'special'... I think we should all wait for a 'top trimmed' production car to be revealed because it might actually surprise us all..... here's hoping anyway!

It's still L shaped - just inverted like the E92. The LEDs inside still have the same L shape like other BMWs.

Did we really need another X variant ?!?

Instead of what we all really want ? A $40k M Car ?

Ok make that a 50k M Wagon
It is what everyone wanted.

A sporty 1/2er hatch basically.

Jacked up and rebranded a crossover.

Just like what MB has done with the GLA.

I won't even bother doing a render... The time for mini-BMW's has truly arrived... Sad...

It's a squashed down X1. I might be interested in this in an M version. Primarily I like the size and versatility, if I can get the power and handling also I would be sold.

on one hand i love it, it feels like itd be a better competitior to the GLA than the X1 is.
on the other hand, without getting rid of the X1 i don't see how this will sell - especially if its a decent amount expensive, resulting in more eyesore

also lastly, putting badges on the c pillar?

can we please have bangle back? even hooydonk would do at this point

BMW X2 Slips through patent office.

The X2 was shown as a thinly-disguised concept car during last year's Paris Auto Show. The patent images confirm certain styling cues have been toned down over the past few months. Notably, it has gained door handles - a real boon on a production model - and less muscular-looking bumpers on both ends. However, the overall design and the tall hatchback-esque silhouette haven't changed much.

Peeling off the X2's skin layers reveals BMW's front-wheel drive UKL platform. It's the same modular architecture found under the latest X1, the 2 Series Active Tourer offered across the pond, and every recent addition to the MINI lineup. That means front-wheel drive will be the default configuration, though we might only see the all-wheel drive model in the United States and in Canada.

Like we've previously reported, most X2 models will use a 228-horsepower version of BMW's turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Rumors indicate a M Performance variant with at least 300 horses under the hood will also join the lineup. However, the UKL platform forbids the use of the company's 3.0-liter straight-six.

We expect the 2019 BMW X2 will break cover this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show, and it will arrive in BMW dealerships next year. It will carry a significant premium over the X1, which starts at $33,750.

I don't understand the complaining here. The shape and design details are pretty darn close to those of the concept. I think it will be a nice looking vehicle.

I am, however, just a bit confused on the purpose of this X2. Both this and the X1 are 4-door entry-level luxury crossovers aimed at the young family type of crowd. What does the X2 accomplish in the market that the X1 doesn't already?

another bullshit car being made and marketed to wheel money out of suckers pockets.

Personally, I would only buy an X5, and even the new X5 is not as attractive as its two predecessors.
Lets just accept that BMW has sold out and become a company making all things for all people.

the rarity and specialness is gone......
