M2 switches from Sport+ to Comfort by itself?
This happened several times driving a student's car.
I get in, set the mode to Sport+, then deactivate DSC. After a few laps I notice the car has reactivated DSC and is now in Comfort throttle mapping. Any idea why this is happening? Seems pretty odd. It was a hot day but I didn't get any CELs, etc. |

The system may automatically switch to COMFORT in the following situations:
Failure of DSC Dynamic Stability Control The vehicle has a flat tire When activating cruise control in TRACTION or DSC OFF mode Given the scenario, the tire pressure may have been low. |

Complete flat tire isn't necessary for this to happen. As soon as the computer gets a reading from TPMS that tire pressure is below around 28, it switches the car into comfort mode. Has been the bane of my existence the last few track days.

Yep, I never let it go below 28. First session it'll get up to like 37-38, so I'll take some more out before the second session. As long as you're hitting every session, temps won't drop enough to get below 28 before you leave the track.

My workaround is to reset the TPMS after setting my cold pressures, and occasionally midway through an event. |

I also do a reset proactively when I am running low pressures at the beginning of the day. I believe some guys are not running sensors on their dedicated track wheels partially for this reason. It's not that big of a deal when you know to expect it, I know some get irritated but it's important to remember this is a safety system for the masses and not for us that go to the track.

Actually it doesn't. That is the basis of the discussion. We can either live in the world we have or dream about one that doesn't exist. TPMS is an important safety feature and it does make sense that during times where the system thinks the tires are not in a safe condition that would not want the DSC to be in anything other than the most conservative settings.
This is only as big of a deal as we choose to make it. For me life is too short to worry about a little nuisance like this. |

Next up you will defend Mercedes' approach to dsc off where, after abs intervention, it reengages dsc No M car before the M2 (maybe the M3/4 do this as well) has done this and they have had tpms since the ancient days of the E46M3. |

I get it, I really do, not defending it just saying its not worth the energy. Just enjoy the car and now that you know this issue exists it is very easy to avoid. The first time really irritated me but life is too short. Just drive it and enjoy. Blame the lawyers!!!

On the M2, tire temperature and pressure information display is super useful on track. Differentials inform driving style and when the tires start to get greasy, this info is helpful with pressure resets for the next session.

First, Sport or Sport+ suck on the track and should be avoided. Second, the DSC will be turned back on in Any mode if a low temp is detected. It sucks!
