Intercooler upgrades?

Anyone here running stage 2 with an intercooler? Any noticeable gains?

Upgraded my pistons to the i8 cooled ones and I'm planning to go stage 2 with a FMIC.

I just wanted to know which ones would fit and if it'll make any difference at all.

Out of curiosity how much did it cost and how much work was it to change the pistons?

That seems like a lot of work and money no?

Almost free that’s why I wanted to go stage 2.
A brand new 4000 miles local i8 crashed lost the back half but the engine was perfectly fine. The engine was put in some mazda with my OEM pistons. They sold me the pistons for about $380. Garage did the work for free since it’s a friend.

Edit: TLDR: Crashed i8 and good contacts got me a free piston upgrade.

Pfffff sounds like a bargain

When they put the engine in a Mazda, did they put the electric motors in as well? Or just the engine?

Was it one of the newer Mazda's? That seems like a nightmare to get everything coded and working in two different brand cars.

Did you ask if the I8 brakes would fit the f48? 🤷🏻*♂️

Hey SDriver18i! I'm curious, did you finally install a new IC?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Should be here within 3 weeks to 1 month. I will update you.

You planning on going for it? My tuner told me that an AEM meth kit would do more but I don't think this 3 cylinder can handle the boost.

You have the B48.
A meth kit would do wonders on that!

Great! Thanks! Looking forward to it.
BTW, which one did you finally buy?

I'm looking into it since I can really feel less power when the temperature is high. But, I don't want to lose too much pressure with the new IC. So it can't be too big either.

Mmmm, tempting, haha, but I think that's going to be too much for me, you know.

.
My tuner bought 3, MTC, Forge and Wagner.

Since the B38 specs are different from the B48.

They'll try them all and see which one is the best.

He did tell me he'd have to remap it to compensate for the extra air.

I'll probably fit the cheapest one since its pull the least air.

Great, thanks! Looking forward to your review after installing it. I'm really worried about pressure drop. I think it could have a significant impact on our engines.

BTW, ventjock shared with me another link for IC upgrade: https://www.racdyn-usa.com/PROD/137+30+56+400.html

It's way cheaper than the Wagner, but it's for B48 engines. Perhaps you can check with them if they have something for yours.
