I took this up with BMW, and they advised that it could not be activated because it was not a simple matter of a software activation. They were very definite that the required hardware was not present in the car.

This didn't ring true to me. As a matter of relevance I'll disclose that I have quite highly qualified in the electronics field. I know from years of experience that it would be cost ineffective to have separate hardware for every configuration. I know for a fact that it is simpler and more cost effective to be able to switch the features in and out bu addressing the microprocessor (in BMW's case with an FSC code).

So I decided to investigate further.

It turns out that BMW told me a blatant lie.

I traced a BMW specialist service center in Europe who advertised that they could activate SLI with a genuine BMW FSC code.

I engaged them to do this, and arranged a suitable time for them to link to my vehicle with Team Viewer.

The result is that I now have SLI active in HUD and the Instrument Cluster. And contrary to BMW's claims - IT WORKS BRILLIANTLY.

Keep in mind that this is the original BMW SLI with an FSC code tied to my VIN - it's not an after market emulator.

So, don't believe BMW's lies. There are coders who can obtain the FSC code and activate the original SLI. Provided the car has the camera system top center of the windscreen, and HUD, it can be coded in with FSC code.

I have kept my FSC code on hand in case BMW deactivate it during servicing - I warn them each time that they will need to reactivate with the code, should they do anything to disable it.

I trust this post has been helpful.
Would love to have this activated in my car, have the camera and HUD and was told that it would be active by BMW when ordered but got nothing from them, I purchased it new in july2016,
If you have any suggestions how to activate it I would really appreciate your help, I am in Sydney

SLI. Retrofit

I'd be pleased to pass on the details of the company in Europe.

They were an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Feel free to send a private message to me, and I'll give you the contact details.

Today, F48 / F39 and BIMMERCODO can't put KAFAS2 into expert mode, so I think E-Sys & Launcher PRO is necessary.

P.S.
7E FSC code is not required.
Would you please share the FDL codes you changed for your F39?
I did the same as you did but the cluster still shows --- in red circle.

I don't know if MINI F54 can do the same. First, check the FSC code. Check if the following items are the same.

----------
AppID 126 (0x7E)
UpgradeIndex 1 (0x01)
SWTType SWTclassic light
FSCStatus accepted ←※Is it the same?※
FSCCertStatus not available
----------

Thank you.

Hi maaii11,

Start with VO coding. And when you get “---” in the red circle, please send a PM.
Investigate together for additional FDL coding.
(Additional FDL items may be different in Japan and Taiwan.)

Thank you.

understood.
It is a pity that we cannot challenge SLI with "MINI F54".

Si_Oz, could you please help me on info about this BMW specialist service center in Europe? I live in Brazil and SLI in my new 330e is blocked by 8TD code too.

Resurfacing this thread. Understand a couple of Sydney folks have managed to retrofit this and am hoping to get some guidance whether it be pointing me to a dealer or other source to get the SLI active.

For reference, have a 2016 340i LCI with all the relevant hardware

Cheers

Hi,

My wife has a 2016 F48 X1 25i (Prod. Date 2016-07-07) with Kafas2 and I always assumed she didn't have SLI capabilty so I installed a chinese SLI emulator that worked well but obviously doesn't update SLI using cameras.

I saw a FSC SLI online at a good price and enquired, I got this response.

Quote:
Hi,

Your car already has this FSC code but Speed limit Info function is restricted by BMW for Australia.

This is why your car has this option:
08TD Decoding Speed Limit Info

This restriction can be removed by coding, you need to find a local coder that can do it as we provide remote support only for customers.

Regards,

It made me think, I'm not actually sure if I tried to activate SLI with her FSC.

What I'll do in a couple days is remove the chinese SLI emulator to see if her SLI using her FSC actually works.

If SLI doesn't work correctly, I assume I'll have to do the same as my 2016 F26 X4 35d and update the Kafas2 ECU firmware to a later version, I've already downloaded psdzdata full just incase.

I'll report back.

Please check 7E FSC of Kafas in esys. If you status is "FSCStatus accepted", you can code SLI.

Hi,

Did your wife's X1 have NBT_EVO or HU_EntryNav ECU?

It's just that I've been told SLI won't work with HU_EntryNav.

My wife's X1 was built 07-07-2016 and has 7E "FSCStatus accepted" in eSys.

The official spill from the dealers is ‘it can’t be done’. If there are no retrofit package in TIS then it’s not possible from dealer. But since I’ve been playing with my 1series since 2013 and now X1 I can honestly say that everything is possible albeit on how much one is willing to spend for the retrofit. By hey some retrofit are as cheap as chips - coding is only what’s required.

Hi,

2016 F48 X1 25i, I can also confirm that SLI using the already accepted FSC code from factory works with NU_EntryNav after removing 8TD, I coded BCD_Body, NU_EntryNav, Kafas2 and Kombi.

You may already know, the 2016 F48 X1 25i 5 blinker works as long as you don't check the "3 blinker" in i-Drive. After coding 5 blinker using e-Sys, it works and "3 blinker" in i-Drive is unchecked.
