Install, but NOT drive, tonight. I'll take pictures of process and post accordingly.

Work is too busy this week...

Installed. Pictures below. Turned on engine, idle for a bit, no error codes. Next thing to do (sometime this week) is DRIVE.

Enjoy!

P.S. Pictures are worth one thousand words of HOW-TO.

Results are in.

Log attached from one of the best mix of highway and regular traffic runs I did today. See (.zip).

Intake sound is a little louder with more free flowing revs. Exhaust pops are a bit more prounounced as well.

~1 Hour, 30 miles of driving
40 Degrees Farenheit
JB4 Map 2, 30 Safety - NO ISSUES
BMS Pedal Tuner, Setting Orange, Zero - NO ISSUES

Pipercross is a WINNER!

There ya' go.

End of projects for this vehicle, at this time. It's been a whirlwind as of late, and now I just want to enjoy it for another few years the way it is.

So there you go folks!

If you want 'more', I highly recommend:

a) adding a Pipercross Filter
b) Adding a BMS Pedal Tuner https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1638514
c) Adding a JB4 with BlueTooth and App https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1721971
d) adding a Boost Gauge (somewhat optional but really handy) https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1761044

Have fun!

You know.. they never replied to me at all and I never bothered getting the pipercross filter myself. Poor customer service! Ah well.. now that it's cold and miserable I'm really taking it easy on my drive anyways.. might wait and see if there are other options popping out.

Must admit the HK is a SIGNIFICANT step up from the Hi-FI. That said, the BAVSOUND is an even more noticeable step... Sadly, even then, there's still a GREAT DEAL of improvement to be had!

In cooler weather here around 35F, the filter does enhance engine function and noise.

Thanks for sharing. I was thinking about this filter the last 3 days when it was 5F in the morning. I felt the noise is a bit different on stock filter.
It would be better with the Pipercross I guess.

I did finally pull the trigger on the pipercross early december. I decided to order from a different vendor through ebay since they gave me the best deal. It took about 3.5 weeks royal mail to get to me.

One thing to note: it says to clean every 20,000 miles which is a whackton in my opinion. I never got a clear answer about the cleaning kit being sent from the UK, so I'll eventually buy one through the USA.. haven't decided what.. but probably I'll clean it once a year, twice at most. We'll see how much debris I can whack out of it mid summer.

30F here today and I only had a chance for a quick romp on the throttle with JB4 and it did not failsafe. Debatable still for me if it makes more sounds or it's just the super cold air. On the way home from work I'll get more chances to downshift and make more throttle punches to see if I notice it. What I hope for it more crackling on the downshifts to at least mimic my original open air intake that unfortunately made the jb4 go crazy.

Just wanted to report that.. I was changing a bunch of things so I thought I'd take out the air filter and bang out some dust. The good news.. it wasn't really dirty, not a lot of debris. The bad news ... the foam is starting to disintegrate slowly. I was rubbing it/banging it and it was a little "greasy" and I realize it was really pieces falling apart. There was a tiny piece that looked like it was going to rip.

So.. about 2 years and it's finally just falling apart. I didn't really see anything new pop up for intakes. I'm hesitant to try the Burger motorsports.. and still not baller enough to pay for the Eventuri Just so so on the Dinan as well...

The K&N is like $59.99 on amazon so I just zipped a prime shipment so I can swap a new one in.. and if something else appealing comes up eventually I will bite!
