Hello!

What I have: F48 December 2018 X1 with navigation and the 6 inch screen.

I went to Bavarian Coding and it's confirmed my headunit does not have the port for the WiFi antenna so I would need a headunit change.
While I am at it I would like to upgrade to a bigger screen which I gather is 8.8 inch?

What do I need? Any recommendations of where to look for these parts, and their part numbers? I will assume I buy used as from BMW will be £££££.

Aside from HU and screen, do I need a new screen surround to fit into the dash?

Also what about coding?

go to ebay for the new screen. you’ll need bimmercode or esys to code in the new screen.

HU_ENTRYNAV > 3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480
HU_ENTRYNAV > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display

realoem.com - enter in your vin and get the 8.8 listed that would’ve came fitted at factory.

What about carplay, I need a new HU I believe? What about iDrive, does that need to change?

i can’t do anything about carplay. i know your HU needs to have a wlan port & the HU needs to be on a certain s/w version but there are folks on here that can help with just your vin & let you know if your current HU can support carplay or it needs to be replaced entirely.

chk out this thread - a cpl of those folks can help you to chk if your HU will work or not.
