Rear turn signal intermittent issues

Hey there fellow X2 owners. I bought a used 2018 a few months ago. Recently, my right rear turn signal says it has "malfunctioned". This will pop up and then go away. Be fine for a few days, then msg pops up again. I'm not sure it's the bulb or something else. Granted, I haven't taken it apart and replaced the bulb, probably because it's intermittent. In my past experience with other cars, the bulb goes out, it's out. Doesn't come back on and off intermittently.

I've read on this and other BMWs that there might be an issue with the ground wire? Does this sound like a credible problem? Sound like a DIY fix? I'm very handy with things of this nature.

I had a similar issue with mine and the dealer ended up finding a pinched wire in the tailgate. They replaced it under warranty.

hmmm.... they did have to do some work on the trunk / hatch to fix some alignment issues and the right side was troublesome? Interesting?
