Asked the Service Dept about the Sept Update

Well, I asked about the September update and see if they would call me to come in and reprogram....and this was their response:

1. If the update is a critical update, then they will call.......
2. If its not a critical update, they will only update the next time you get an oil change (for me that's about 20000 Kms) !

So, since I have this annoying seatbelt noise, I'm going to wait until after the 5th of September to bring it in.........Hopefully they will update !

That is normal

But just take it in and say you have a specific problem that this update fixes ( wait and see what it fixes )

But you must wait and see when the dealers get the update, the factory gets it on the 5th, but it could take a few weeks before all dealers have it.

I think iDrive not playing MP3s is critical by my standards

I can't wait for this update!

I want my RDS to work damnit. Will that be critical enough for the dealer to update? And will that be covered by the update? I can't remember...

Yeah, me too. In fact, I think it's a defect that the brochure specifically says RDS w/ iDrive and the Owner's Manual shows RDS data in the description of the radio.

That seems like it's enough to get them to do it before a maintenance visit, right?

I would agree. Except for the people at the service department where i bought my E90 kinda waved it off like it was nothing. Time to visit a new dealer, heh

I called the service department at my dealership today about another warranty issue, and I also asked them about the September software upgrade. They claim it is now available. Does that sound right?

There is a newer version than what early cars were delivered yet, but the "september" version is NOT out yet

"September version" is CIP 19.0, I bet they have 18.0 or 18.1

My E90 325i is slated for September production (October delivery) - will it likely already have the september update installed?

How do you tell what version you have?

Dealer has to check on service computer what your software number is, and then you reference that number here to find out what CIP number it came from

Example: If your cars software number is E89x-05-06-510 you have CIP17.01
