Hi,
I have a 2018 F48 X1 with touchscreen but without wifi visible in settings.
I would like to activate carplay.

Here is my VIN: 5K24445

MAP VERSION
Road Map North AMERICA Way 2017-2
Q2051B1R
CAN, AK 2020-1


I can buy a WIFI antenna but I want to make sure if I can have the Carplay. Can you help to activate Carplay on this BMW??

North America spec ENTRYNAV2 should have WLAN Port.

Thanks for your reply but i dont undertand. I have WLAN port but no antenna I think? I can buy WIFI antenna and install it.
But Carplay is compatible with my car?
It can be installed by USB or remotely?
Witch antenna version I need to buy?

Most can have CarPlay without WLAN Antenna so long as phone is close to dash, like in Cupholder, although WLAN is always best option, like this:

It's not decoding.

Antenna should fit, but personally I would use OEM part.with proper impeedance value.

If I understood correctly, in order for CarPlay to be enabled (without hardware modifications), then the head unit must have wifi capability? Is there anyway of checking this without a physical inspection?

I have a 6"5 inch touchscreen ENTRYNAV2, "Way" in the Map version. X1 2019.

Sometime possible to tell my reading Head unit with E-Sys, but not always possible. Best to check back of Head Unit for WLAN Port or top of Head Unit on label for WiFi Logo It take just 10 minutes.

Under settings for the navigation it's telling me that I have:
Road Map NORTH AMERICA Way 2017-3
I did not see any Wifi in settings or any ports.

Just another quick question before I get the PM activated...

My BMW Connected Drive subscriptions have expired recently.
I still have the Mobile Network Connection On, but I haven't purchased the Connected Package (Remote Services, BMW Assist eCall and BMW TeleService BMW Online) or the Real Time Traffic Informatio, yet.
Will I need to purchase these services to be able to install the Apple Carplay?

I guess this is common, but I also asked my local dealer if I can retrofit the Apple Carplay and without even checking, he answered that I will need a new Head Unit.
