My X5 and 330e PHEV's reserve a small amount of charge. I suspect that the engine/charging software will continue to charge the battery at a rate which allows the rear electric motor to keep operating, even after battery charge has gone to "zero". When I put my mode selector to "Save", the battery will charge to three bars, while still allowing the electric motor to provide boost. When I am in full "e-power", the battery will discharge to one bar and then the engine starts, but the electric motor is still available for boost on accelleration. If the traction control system is calling for the rear electric motor, I'm quite sure that the flywheel generator will provide enough electricity to keep it running.

Still no ordering/pricing guide that I can find for 2019 or 2020 X1. Is this because any update from the 2018 guide is being held up until the LCI? That is supposed to be SOP in July 2019 with the PHEV version available March 2020. The US availability date is supposed to be "Late 2019". With the July SOP, I would think that the only X1's available in the US are pre-LCI and are either here or "en route". I guess the LCI will be designated a 2020 model year. Seems like we should see the 2020 ordering/pricing guide very soon.

Just been on line and the OTR price of the equivalent of my car is well over the £40k threshold that brings in the higher annual road tax for 1st 5 years. So i’ll Be running mine into the ground. That’s about 12 years away.and not as many goodies as I currently have.

At the end of the day what counts is the cost to change. How they do it is up to them.

According to VCA calculator first year is £210 then £145, tax class 48
But then it says, *Please note that if the list price of a car is over £40,000, then an additional rate of £310 will be payable on top of the standard rate for five years

I've had the ordering guide for a few weeks. I'll check with my dealer to see if they can send me the pricing guide.

Had email from local BMW inviting me to try the new 2020 X1. They seemed to emphasise the new look radiator grill and little mention of any improvements on the last model. Indeed no mention of any reduction on tyre noise or increasing the power to the US equivalent of 245bhp. So I definitely won’t be changing mine for another at the moment.

In 2020, the Bavarian brand will present the most powerful version of the BMW 1-Series.
The debut of the BMW M140e with plug-in hybrid will take place next year. Novelty will be the most powerful version in the family. The hatchback will be equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine and electric motor, with a total capacity of approximately 400 hp. and 500 Nm of torque. The new powerful “penny” is also equipped with a 35 kW / h battery and a special system of water injection into the intake manifold, which allows reducing the temperature in the combustion chamber and increasing the boost pressure and productivity as soon as possible. |

Hi new to this so could be posting in the wrong place are asking question that has maybe been answered. I'm currently looking at buying my first X1 the 2020 spec xline model, though it doesn't have sport seats was going to add them as an option.
Looking to know what the dimensions for the seat base length as only 5ft 3 and is there any length difference between the ordinary & sport. Anything else worth putting as option on it? Thanks Brian |
