Brakes Squealing
My brakes started squealing about 3 weeks ago on my 2018 X1. They squeal periodically when I am going slowly in reverse with my foot on the brake pedal. If I press slightly stronger on the brake pedal the squealing stops. It usually occurs when the car has been sitting for awhile. The brakes never make noise when I brake driving forward. BMW service told me this is normal for a BMW and caused by rust as the car gets older. Should I believe them? Thoughts?

Find a deserted or private road and try 6-8 hard brake applications from 80–>40kph. It's worked on every car I've owned. Do not stop and especially do not apply the handbrake during this process, and then do a steady drive to cool things down

This is the second winter with mine and it does one squeal first thing in the morning. Doesn't bother be at all. If it sounded like a dump truck then it would bother me.
