It's great in terms of design! Like it from every angle....too bad they have to kill it with FWD drive...

I think it looks great. The shifter looks weird. Looks like a 4WD shift knob from an old Jeep.

how is it possible that the new X1 has a dual pipes and the LCI X3 doesn't?

Even the X4 which is a new model has the same issue.

Love it. About time. Looks like a mini X3/X5. Will have to get one for an all-purpose vehicle when my M4 can't cut it.

? Where did you see front wheel drive ? Am I reading wrong or are the haters just not reading ?

•xDrive all-wheel-drive◦single-speed bevel gear and a rear- axle drive unit with electrohydraulically controlled multi-plate clutch that controls longitudinal torque distribution. The two are connected by a two-piece drive shaft.

•can divert up to 100% of engine's power to rear wheels

With an available M sport package.... this will be a nice little ute.... and they really probably don't need a ton of engine options.

That Aisin 8 speed makes sense since it's a transverse engine. A transverse engine looks weird in a BMW.

Styling wise I give it thumbs up.

Looks nice! Being FWD-based I wonder if I can still engage in hooliganism and take corners sideways like in my current F30 xDrive.

What's with the shifter, though? At first I thought it was a manual shifter, it's so tall!

I will hold my judgment till I have a chance to drive one hard. But the transversely mounted engine does look really weird. I suspect the 100% torque to the rear wheels is also just marketing for die hard fans. We will see.

So this wont come with the B48 at some point?

Most interestingly is that the design language has went back? The headlights are not connected to the grill... Not complaining. Just saying.

You're not going to put an inline 6 in transverse. I'm sure there will be diesel options. I just wish they would come to the US.

Maybe because this one is more fuel efficient?

Unbelievable, the N20/N26 with 245hp/260tq is already a bother and they decide to ditch it for a 228HP ? Definitely not moving forward here!

It looks a lot closer to a X3 now, did they raise the roof line?

I currently own a '14 X1. I was very happy with the car at first, but two years in, the ride is horrible and the whole driving experience is plagued with squeaks and rattles.

I think the exterior of the '16 X1 is a marked improvement, but the interior design is a major step backwards.

Too many things going on––shapes, lines and angles. The shifter is terrible. The finishes look cheaper, including the seats.

I suppose I'll wait until I sit in one and drive it, but I think i'll have to go with a 3 wagon, GT or 4 GC for my next ED.
