X2 what do we think?

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-sho...ng-continues-/

Take a look at the link above... what do people think? Obviously a base model but will a top trimmed car look any good?

Yes!

In M Sport trim, with 20" wheels and lowered 35mm - H&R if needed - it will look closely to the concept vehicle. Which is - next to F-PACE and Volvo P1800 - best looking shooting brake ever.

I will, however, wait for the M35i, due end of next year.

I like it.

I think once we see full production models with all the trims we can then assess properly. But I like the wedge nose and it certainly has a sporty thing going on.

Yes, I think if the car here was in alpine white or estoril blue, with M sport body-kit & 19 inchers we would be saying much nicer things about it!!

I'm guessing that, here in the UK at least, we won't even see the above car!! Here the X1 isn't available as a 'base' model but just sport or X line, both of which have bigger/nicer wheels and body-kit!

I don't see enough difference between the X1 and the masked test car.

Checked your eyesight lately?

Again - time will tell. I´ll be waiting for my M35i.

If need be - I will install H&R and M Performance Exhaust - like current X4.

Think you'll find they're 17's... which is no good thing as you'll really need 20's to actually make this car look any good!!

I'm not a fan of stupidly oversized wheels, but on these SUVs with their huge arches, anything smaller just looks silly to me!!

LOL, I'm not easily offended

The concept looked really cool (as most concepts do) and very different from the X1. The green car in the first picture looks a lot like the X1 to me. The front seems lower but the shape of the rear, angle of the rear window, bottom edge of the rear side windows all look similar to the X1. Maybe when I see them side by side I'll notice a bigger difference.

Sorry , no offense intended. I just get worked up, when people does not see!

X1 is - sorry - very much, a box.

X2 is, very much, a shooting brake, with most attributes generally associated to that type of vehicle - except for the shotguns.

For some reason - probably that BMW has no current inhouse "competitor" - BMW has chosen to make public - halfway "strange" pictures and - recently - halfway good pictures from "low" angels - not, typically, a good photo angel. El Cheapo version is not necessarily a design hit.

In my world, based on experience - when the vehicle is presented in "full dressing", it will be close to concept.

These just popped up on IG. BMW let out a sneak peek of the X2 that ties in with German Graffiti artist Mad_C1.

Now we are getting somewhere...

Blue car is obviously in M trim - body coloured wheelhouse trim.

19" or 20"? Not very much rubber though.

Distance wheel - wheelhouse OK - but could be photo- cheat.

Rear quarter area very much non-box. Consistent with shooting brake.

Nice... although I never see the point in wheel arch guards if they're going to be painted!! Surely the whole idea is that they protect the arch from getting paint scuffs!!

Trim is - mostly - to cover screws which holds inner plastic housing.

Black is cheap. Colour is nice

Surely not... or all cars would have them, but only SUV's do!! I'd say it's more of a 'rugged' styling thing! And these vehicles look more 'rugged' with the black guards in my opinion! Certainly the X1 looks better with the black wheel arch trims (IMO)

But sure when we see the whole M trimmed X2 I may well think differently!

Bingo! This is a styling thing with CUV's these days. I suppose it offers a little protection too. Audi charges $1,000 if you order body color cladding from the factory on its Allroad wagon!
