C/D - Range Rover Evoque vs BMW X2 M35i
New comparison article from Car and Driver, and the first article of theirs about the M35i model of the X2 in particular. This C/D article also in my opinion seemed to be written much better with greater detail than some previous reviews of theirs. Spoiler alert, the X2 comes out first due to its better driving dynamics and noticeable lack of weight in comparison to the slower but more stylish Evoque.

I was waiting for a better track test to see what numbers the X2 would provide....4.6 and 13.3 in the quarter....now someone needs to get it on a dyno, because it sure seems stronger than the BMW specs.

Ok so I read c&ds comparo on the focus rs and civic r and exactly how the hell does our little demon so closely match with a car that makes 50hp and 20tq more that also happens to weigh 400lbs less? I know at are faster than manuals but not that much.

I’ve been trying to find an AWD dyno to see what it’s actually putting down. I’m planning on tracking it in a few weeks to see what the actual 1/4 time would be. My Dragy seems to show it slower than the 4.9 0-60 referenced. We shall see!

Bought the X2, but often when I see an Evoque drive past, wish I had gone with that instead....but it is British... But looks so good. But is British made

Look for the Evoque topless and then you might reconsider I admit the regular suv looks pretty cool (but low visibility), but after I read all the specs I said.. nope!

It's funny because when you see one you think that there can't be a lower SUV and then you pull up next to one in an X2.

No surprise there. Function wins over fashion.
(PS One of my neighbours has an Evoque which has been back to the dealer with electrical faults four times in 18mths. Wouldn't touch one with a bargepole)

Stronger than BMW specs is normal these days. In recent times, when has a BMW engine NOT been stronger than specs?

4.6 to 60 is nuts for the 4 banger...this is why I keep posting incessantly about a 230is with this engine and a weight drop...do it BMW!!!

Using their trap speed and their published weight, it’s a little over 340hp
