Shadowline trim for standard x1

Does anyone know if the all black shadowline trim for the M Sport line, available for standard X1? I want to black out my x1 completely.

Depending on the overall cost with replacing all the trim pieces, I've seen people have the existing trim wrapped instead. I haven't done this myself to attest to how good it is, but that the quality can varying based on the skill of the installer of the vinyl.

Wrapped or plasti dipped. Or just remove and bring it to a shop to be professionally prepped and sprayed. My shadowline trim is literally just painted shiny black.

Just got a quote to have all the trim, grille, and rims powder coated for $1200. Reputable shop too that does high end work. Cheaper to liquid wrap, but probably not as nice and as durable as powder coated.

That's true. Though to be honest, Powder coating is probably overkill if it's properly prepped, painted, clear coated.

Don't forget the roof rails too.

On my msport it's only the grill slats that are black, surrounds are still chrome. I tried all black grills but it didn't look good on Estoril blue.

Wow, thats a good deal for powder coating, especially given the additional labor involved with removing the parts to powder coat them vs wrapping them while still on the car.

As, ZZZZ already mentioned, definitely don't forget the roof rails too, but it's a lot of work to access the nuts that hold them to the roof.

After second inquiry, I was told only the rims were to be powder coated and everything else liquid wrapped for $1250. Includes all trim, roof rails, grille, moldings, for complete “black out” look.

Another place quoted me $700 (gloss) or $600 (matte), for full liquid wrap including rims.

So basically I’d be paying $550 extra just for powder coating the rims. Both shops do high end work and have stellar reviews. What you guys think??

That makes much more since..As someone previously mentioned, powder coating the trim is overkill...especially the removal, prep and install is a lot of work/time alone.

In regard to powder coating VS liquid wrapping (plasti dip) the wheels, powder coating will be more durable in the long run, especially when it comes to cleaning brake dust and the such. Liquid wrapping isn’t as durable, but also isn’t permanent as liquid wrapping. I think it comes down to a judgement call on your of the purpose/intent and the ROI of the cost difference.

Yeah I'm leaning towards powder coating the rims, and liquid wrapping everything else. I live in NYC, and have extreme hot and cold weather. I also mountain bike and snowboard, and often drive on dirt/gravel roads, so the more durable option makes more sense. I do plan on keeping the car for at least 5/6 years also.

Based on that, I would def lean more towards the powder coating for the wheels.

Fredro, the pics of your car confirms that I'm on the right path on wanting to blackout completely my car. Yours look awesome. Great job!

Tks man. I’ll post better pics when the weather warms up a bit. Since taking those pics, I now have the roof rails painted as well. Only thing not blacked out are the BMW logos on hood and rims.

Does anyone have the part number for the right rear most window? I am having a hard time finding it—Shadowline, of course.
