Thanks
realoem.com - enter last 7 of vin then browse to nav section and get part number for 8.8 cid.

Thanks.
I was offered a screen from a newer vehicle and I was advised that it won't work in my car due to it being a newer version, 5A3E573. If I were to change my head unit would this make it work? Is there any way to get it to work? The reason I'm asking is I will get this screen for free from a friend and if its possible to change headunit to get it working I dont mind. If anyone knows please help, sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I'm old school and these new cars are confusing.

no idea - you need to provide more info.

ie - what is the part number off the new cid?

and changing HU is a costly process and not recommended for a noice as you need to code in the new HU entirely.

Thanks for replying. The number on the 8.8 screen is 6550 5A3E573 01 it also has 8.8 CID Gen 2 written on it as well as AL4903N0682120 and a Supplier NO: 156142-10

Not sure if any of that helps.

I put my vin in realoem and I'm confused I'm not sure what screen is compatible with my vehicle. My standard screen is a non touch 6.5".

sounds like you got an apix 2 cid and your hu can only handle apix 1 cid.

you can try a cable like this but no way to know if it’ll work or not since this is used for apix 1 cid connecting for evo HU

if this doesn’t work, it’s cheaper to just get a new cid than a HU but if you want apple car play and the bigger screen, then keep the 8.8 cid you have now and get the evo HU and pay someone to help code in your hu/cid.

you can simply just throw the new cid in now and code in the change and see what happens before you buy anything but if you get ‘no signal’ then try this cable and hope for best.

After doing a bit of further digging and reading I have seen that the model I have bought is the 65508707407 which is an Alpine AL4803, the one you said will work in my vehicle is a AL4801, do you know if the AL4802 8797400 could work?

no way to know if it’ll work or not until you try. I went with the part number listed in realoem and all was fine for me. When i tried another one, it did not and i had to send it back.

if realoem shows the same 8.8 part number as my 8.8, you have nbt.

some later 2017 models have evo but sounds like you have nbt.

you need pull HU out entirely and look at sticker.

Homesrbud thank u for all your help!!
I was thinking of changing HU but its too much of a fuss and I've given up. I'm now looking at maybe going for one of the android screens, they seem so be simple and no headaches.

they aren’t perfect but they are nice and allow for an easy upgrade for the screen and have a bunch of goodies.

check out this thead - good luck!

Chaps,

my wife is getting a BMW X1 2.0Xline tomorrow (Nov 2016).

She has the standard 6'5 Screen.

Does anyone know what part number I need for a larger screen? 8'8 upwards?

I know my HU is not compatible for Apple Car Play so I am having to buy another one which is

BMW MINI F55 F56 F60 Sat Nav Alpine Radio Media Head Unit Entrynav2 6512 5A25D20

Does anyone know what screen is compatible as I cannot work it out on the RealOEM site.

I'm also aware things will need coding which I've been offered help with.

Thanks

what is last 7 of your vin? more than likely it’s probably same one i had to get for my 2016 x1 but post last 7 of vin to confirm.

fyi - if you plan on upgrading HU to get carplay then you may want to wait to upgrade your screen as the one you buy now probably won’t work with the evo HU if you decide to go that route.
