Face Lifted X1 Stop

I was expecting to collect my new X1 2 weeks ago. It is with the dealer but BMW have put a STOP on delivery because of problem with the in strument panel apparently. cannot get any info as to exact nature of problem or likely fix time. So frustrating! Can anyone shed any light on the matter, please?

Mine is expected at the dealers any time now. Not taking delivery till Sept 1st for new reg. Hopefully be sorted by then. Thanks for the heads up.
Wonder if yours and mine share the same instrument panel?

If its with the dealer you should be able to go and see it and pump him for info.

Stop

Just received info from my dealer to say that problem is with the instrument panel trim which will have to be replaced. They said it has stopped 13,000 cars worldwide! Why something like that should necessitate a stop surprises me. So hopefully I finally might get my car next week?

Thats good but why couldn't they let you have the car then return later to have trim replaced?

Do you not want to hang on till the 1st for new reg?

I would prefer to hang on now for 69 plate, but based on delivery of car 3rd week of last month sold my car privately and have loan car but also dealer gave me reg number on 16th July .... the day after it arrived in the UK..and has said not possible to change and have confirmed with DVLA. We go on holiday next Friday so crossing my fingers that they get part in time.

Just been to see mine. Dealer said something interesting. He said that he was going to put it in the showroom but he wasn't allowed until the official launch date. Makes you wonder?

Photos of mine as it came off transporter. Love the colour and interior is gorgeous with large display, sports seats and wood effect trim.

Looks very nice....could the story of not launch date yet be something to do with awaiting parts for replacement trim? Who knows? When is the official launch date?

All I can find is, “ Late 2019”. August seems early. Wonder if anyone else has already got theirs.

You could try suggesting to the dealer you may reject the car under the sale of goods act, it may speed things up.

Sale of Goods Act Key Facts:

1 Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

2 Goods are of satisfactory quality if they reach the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account the price and any description. Aspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety.

3 It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract.

4 If goods do not conform to contract at the time of sale, purchasers can request their money back "within a reasonable time". (This is not defined and will depend on circumstances)

5 For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement).
