I've got the 25d
Already had 2 new egr's
Poor fuel economy
Unbelievable tyre noise on anything other than silky smooth tarmac and just had rear diff control unit replaced under warranty dur to strange noise coming from rear whilst turning at slow speed
Good luck

Mines a 2.5d on 16 plate and in respect to fuel consumption over the last few thousand miles, half have been towing a 1500kg caravan and the average fuel consumption on the trip computer over those miles has been 35.6mpg which I consider is brilliant. Best so far on a journey of single, dual carriageway and motorway was 52mpg.

Re wheels and tyres - I swopped out my 19” rims style M572 for 18” rims style M570 equipped with non run flat Bridgestone.
Car is far quieter and ride quality vastly improved

39K in 33 months from new UK 25D, 1 Egr valve, pair tyres for the front at 22K, non runflats from new & yes, a little bit noisy but driven noisier cars, goes well but the gearbox ain't no ZF smooth as silk unit, that's for sure.

Probably averaged 38mpg overall, I don't hang about & was doing 60 miles a day A road & lots of roundabouts (MK) for the 1st 2 years ownership.

We have a 20i xDrive Auto bought used 12 months ago with 2100 miles now on 21000 miles returned 37.4 mpg . running on Bridgestones Non Run Flats still have a few mm on but getting noisy.
The important think with any xDrive cars are tyres ---- BMW have quite strict critia for them regarding tread depths and make on same axles and the car overall. Getting it wrong has been known to result in transmission wind up. Always stick with * marked tyres.
Unfortunatly I can not get the TiS 36 . 12 . to copy over to this reply, but one comment reads " The tyre tread difference between tyres in all wheel positions must not exceed 2 mm "
I am finding the gearbox the smoothest ever , and very rare to even notice a gear change .

Reading this forum, it seems that the petrol version is giving the same MPG as the diesel version. Which is weird.

As for 25d, I test drove the 25d and the 20d and went for the latter. The difference in performance wasn't enough to justify the price difference and I found the 25d noisier than the 20d.

i have do have the say the engine does seem noisy and i agree with the road noise in the cabin is little louder than expected. But overall the car seems good. done a round trip to north London got around 51mpg. Not sure if anyone trying premium fuel in their diesel car? as i only received the car last week the car come with a full take of fuel so im hoping once this tank is finished is fill up some vpower or BP ultimate see if that makes any difference. Reason for saying is that my other 2 BMW seem to be much smoother and more responsive with the premium fuel thats just my experience.

But thank you all for your comments if there is anything else please feel free to share.

Simon what flagged up the EGR valve change? did you have engine light or did you notice something in the performance or MPG?

When my egr started playing up it started with a bit of judder now and then which got more regular and then it brought a drivetrain error on saying continue with journey with reduced power (limp mode) I'd be surprised if yours hasn't already been replaced, after mine was replaced the first time they didn't do the software update and is most likely why it had to be replaced again, do you have the speed limit info available

Delay when putting foot down, like a long pause, didn't happen all the time though & I drove it like that for 2/3weeks before it went in to be replaced

Had my 25d back about 10 days and the problem is now sorted, I've also noticed that the mpg has gone from the low 30's up to 39 mpg at the moment, I'd had a grinding noise coming from the rear which I could only notice whilst pulling away and turning right, the hang on clutch, hydraulic pump and control unit along with a rear drive shaft were replaced under warranty

I have the 2017 model. Had to as well replace EGR ventil in +- 30k km.

Consumption 6.4l / 100km, which I consider pretty cool considering the performance of the car.

I wouldn't describe mine as creaking, itwas more of a grind which I was convinced was coming from front passenger side as I pulled away from standstill, was more noticeable when pulling away slowly

To demonstrate this to the bmw tech I would put full lock on and give the throttle a little squirt and the tech felt the grind straight away, hec said he thought it was coming from the rear diff, and was right

I find it very noisy
I have a vivaro 2.0 Citi with nearly 200k on it and it's so much quieter at idle
X1 sounds more like a tractor
