911 4S or GTR

As an additional car to the M3, what is the thought on a used 991 911 4s vs a '15 or '16 BE Nissan GTR?

The 911 Turbo is the Porsche most frequently compared to the GTR given the power output and AWD and I haven't seen many comparisons between the tamer 911 and Godzilla.

Thanks

Intended usage?

Grand touring, night out on the town, twisties, then the 4S

Track driving, pavement destroying, tire melting, then GTR.

I probably won't ever take the car to the track. It will be more of a grand touring, night out type rather than a track monster for me.

I have loved the GT-R since I first saw it and still lust after one. I'm a little disappointed in the interior though. They have thrown leather everywhere but it's been frozen in time with the interior looking bulbous and very dated.

Now the Porsche has speed, looks great, decently elegant interior and would be great for your intended purpose, unless of course that "night out" type thing involves picking up dudes, then get the GT-R. Men flock to them in droves. The 911 is just another Porsche, and dudes say cool car, but it needs to be GTS or higher for men to turn gay.....GT-R shows up, girls don't care and they see Nissan...oh a fast and the furious 370, and men immediately become homosexual and flock to it.

I have owned an M4, 991 C4S and now a GTR. I can guarantee the C4S has not one touch on the GTR.

The GTR is a different league, its interior is very nice to be sat in, bland admittedly but very comfortable compared to the side saddle 911 seats and awkward driving position, it drives beautifully both slow or break neck fast. Gear changes are brilliant and on par with the PDK box from the porsche but not quite the M4's DCT. despite what people say about driver involvement the GTR is like all cars. Keep the nannies on and your nanny could drive it. Turn them off and it gets as much rear end action as the M4 but with enough pois to bring it back, of course with the help of 4wd.

as mentioned the Porsche C4S is just another yuppy car unless its a GT or a TT which makes it to me no better than a C220 diesel which is why i sold mine. Id pull up at my local waitros and id see 2 or 3 parked up in the same colour as mine and most commonly seen with a female driver annoyingly.

On the other hand, again as mention before the GTR is just a huuuge cock magnet. Every guy and his brother wants to rub their yoohoo on it which is an issue for me. But you cant have it all. Lol.

Out of all 3 my M4 got the most attention from both male and female as it was YMB and it had just been released. But as soon as more were seen on the roads it then became a bit blah to people, they stopped looking and the new car stigma was over.

Porsche.

Do you really want to admit to having Nissan keys in your pocket? Or would you rather say "Porsche"....just say it, I know you want to.

So the M3 would be a daily driver and this would be a weekend car? One that is just for fun spirited drives and not 1/2 mile races or road racing?

If you wanted something blistering fast for relatively cheap, get a GTR.

It sounds like your budget would allow you to get into a 997 GT3.

The interior of Porsche vehicles is awe inspiring. I never liked the GTR's exterior. The car always looked very heavy and appears to be much larger than it actually is.

I would buy this if I was in your position.

There seems to be quite the price increase in these with the 991 GT3 coming only in PDK, so people with money who want to row their own gears, have been inflating these prices. Even if the market falls, I suspect that these cars would only lose 20-30% until the next appreciation curve. Therefore, depreciation and total cost of ownership shouldn't be as bad as the GTR and the C4S.

I never understood why people would purchase a $120k C4S. I'd rather spend a bit more and get a base model GT3. However, like one guy said at 6speed... GT3 wasn't comfortable enough for him, so I must respect that. 9k RPM in the 991 GT3 would be hypnotic enough to make me forget about lack of creature comforts.

Then again, I am magazine racing with an imaginary budget.

GTR breakfast is like having a bunch of unseasoned meat, potatoes, and eggs at an all you can eat buffet.

The Porsche is refined, seasoned properly, and just enough to leave you satisfied.

To me engine refinement comes first, with a single engineer hand built engine, as in the gtr, and with a wide array of electronics both stock and aftermarket you can taylor the behaviour and make it much more involving.
Every man and his dog has a variant of the 911, its all over the place, also a lame stage 1 thats very cheap gives you 800 in the gtr, ill take everything bland and unseasoned plz thanks

As always, buy what you enjoy most?

I realize the GTR would demolish a C4S when it comes to being outrageous and track capable but I'd take the 911 as just pure day to day driving enjoyment and even ownership satisfaction.

I owned a lot of different vehicles but mainly BMW's.
I enjoy my M4 but I never had as much overall satisfaction as when I owned my 997 C4S.
Detinitely not as fast, harsher and more barebones than my M4 but something about it that just left a smile on my face and wanting more.

There's a lot of loyalty when it comes to Porsches.
I'm just wondering if the GTR will have the long term satisfaction or if it's just a short term itch.

I had a gtr. Loved it but way too much young kid attention and interior was junk. I would get the P car

Why in the hell would anyone buy a C63 when they are keeping the M3? Same thing about why the OP would even consider a GTR. Too much the same as what he already has (M3) and is keeping. Get something much different.

So many brand whores in here lol. There is no logical reason to get a Porsche CS over a GTR.. Unless you are after the badge. Who ever thinks the GTR is boring to drive CLEARLY has never driven one.

Go test drive both and see which one you like more.
