Which part was that? In the spoken summary he mentioned that there may be some buyers put off by the fact that the (2nd generation) X1 is not rear-wheel drive.

I found the review to be one of the most comprehensive around....so to discount the review because of one (debatable/oversight) point seems a bit overkill.

From summary.

It's alone in this segment in offering the option of a rewarding rear-wheel drive layout.

So, an oversight in the written word (correctly summarised in the video)...and you're discrediting the whole review because of it.

As VW and Audi are VAG, they're not options based on their recent history.

I haven't driven the new Tiguan, but based on my knowledge and experience of Q3 and X1, I think it's a pretty fair review

Nearly useless!!!!!

Nearly!!! Completely more like.

I've tried to match the price shown to a spec and can't. It mentions leather seats...so xline? if so then its a great price as the MRP is £2000 more for the auto, price comes closer with a manual box.

Although not X1-specific, I've been watching a fairly in-depth exploration of the iDrive system which covers the X1, X3 and X5 (and others). It's handy for me as my 2006 530d doesn't have this generation of iDrive, so it's my first exposure to it really (apart from the X1 test drive). I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the real thing in a couple of weeks time!

April's edition of What Car has a comparison of base models of the X1, CX5 and the new Tiguan. Fair points about the BMW (stingy on options, unrefined).

What instantly caught my attention though was how incredibly dull that base model Tiguan looked. I thought the R-Line looked like a chubby Golf. That would make the SE a morbidly obese Polo I guess.

A couple of months ago when choosing and ordering I dismissed the new Tiguan as it didn't have a petrol engine in their early line-up, and none of the variants appear to offer memory seats. I think that's still the case. And as you say it's not really a looker like the X1

Edit

A recent one... Hopefully not a duplicate post

http://www.caradvice.com.au/494465/2...ive25i-review/

Edit : that's an amazing list of extras thrown in to the Australian 25i variant....! I had to order most of those as add ons to my UK order.😕

Interesting/negative comments on front seat comfort (almost to the point of being a deal breaker). But they go on to say the X1 is one of their favorites.

That's pretty cool from you, to find the most negative review out of 99% positive reviews for the X1 on the internet and post it in the X1 forum

For the review itself - I love how the reviewer spends the whole video saying how boring the BMW is and at the end says "To be completely honest, I didn't even drive the car" Professional car journalism at it's best.
