sticky intelligent safety switch

hi all, i have a 2019 x1 and the intelligent safety switch is sticky... i can press it, but it will stay engaged. after a couple flicks it will disengage, so it really hard to change from green to orange and vis versa...

i used some compressed air to clean it out, but still have issues. i've looked around for solutions, but my google skills have failed me... any thoughts on how to clean the switch while it's still in place and/or suggestions on how to completely remove the switch so i can do a thorough cleaning?

i cannot find directions on removing the switch properly. so i need to know if i need to remove the air vents or if i can just pop it out using a small flat head screw driver.

all thoughts are appreciated. thanks!

You will need to remove the trim panel first by using a pry tool. The switch can be removed by pressing the top and bottom pressure clamps.
