Locking without setting the alarm?

OK, I feel stupid for asking but I can't figure this out.

How can I lock all four doors without setting the alarm? If my big dog is in the back and I lock the doors by setting the alarm using the key fob, the alarm will get setoff from my dog moving around inside. I want to lock my X1 without turning the alarm on.

Thanks for your help.

Press the locking button again within 10secs. We've got a dog too, so need to know this !

Yep. Second press disables motion and tilt sensor.

Note pressing the lock button twice does not disable the alarm as asked in the original post. It merely disables the internal motion sensor.

Your car alarm will still go off if the door or trunk is opened. But I'm guessing that's probably what you want based on the situation you're describing.

Is there a way to disable the alarm completely? If I go on a month-long trip, I would prefer to have the car alarm completely off to avoid battery drain...

Have read in the manual that "The alarm system is not armed if the vehicle is locked with the integrated key."

This will involve removing the cover on the door lock (by the door handle).

Modern BMW's are never fully off. There are all sorts of systems doing period checks and things even when the car is sitting. That's why BMW recommends a trickle charger for their cars if you leave it sitting for a long amount of time. Google "BMW battery dead" and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks! I have not tried to remove the door-lock cover because I am afraid to break it. haha!

I will look into a trickle charger before I take my long vacation this year.
