We just spent two days with a group travelling through the Darling Downs and Scenic Rim (Queensland, Australia - for those international people Google "Cunningham's Gap"). I used Eco-pro all weekend running 98 RON, with the group averaging between 80-90kms per hour most of the time.

What model X1 are driving.
How did your X1 handle the hills, bends etc whilst in Eco mode

Model = 2.5i msport. Trip = Gold Coast to Warwick thru Canugra, taking Freestone (?) turnoff before Warwick, to Leyburn via the sandy creek pub on the sprints route. Overnight stop then back through south street to Allora, down to Gatton via the Darling Downs Zoo (beautiful winding road btw), back thru Laidley to Harrisville, and finally back thru Canungra to GC.

No issue on hills (and there were a lot on this route!) as the car seamlessly kicked down when required. I predicted many of the run ups though, and also avoided using the adaptive cruise (as Eco Pro won't coast when it's active). I think the worst part of Eco Pro is driving around town with the gearbox up shifting at around 1800 rpm. Particularly taking off from traffic lights it just feels lazy.

I must say this is definitely a one off for me - it was really only due to the convoy speed. I always tend to drive at highway speed on sport (much less movement on the road) using DS to hold gears etc, and adaptive cruise when stuck behind traffic.

It was an interesting exercise, probably never to be repeated.

That's a great result given the conditions. And you weren't too slow...70kph avg over 625 km. Similar figures to our previous Golf GTD.

That is a very picturesque area to drive about in.
I have done it in my F20, so it might be time to do a run in the F48.
I am not sure if I will do it in eco though. Sport S with paddles I think

I know the area fairly well, and agree......Sports mode is far more enjoyable on some of those roads, particularly with the limited constabulary presence on the back roads!
