extended warranty as a third owner

i bought a e90 335i as a third owner at 46k miles. i'm about to purchase the extended platinum warranty since my vehicle has a navi. however, the car seems to have had a history of modifications. it's got an a/f springs, signs of welded exhaust tip and a radar detector/jammer currently. who knows what other things were done to the car like tuning, codings, anything that could void the warranty.. so my question is does bmw keep a record of what aftermarket mods the car has had and if so, will it affect me later along the lines by voiding things out after i extend it...

to keep it short...will the $3XXX be justified without knowing what was done to the car previously?

Yes, perhaps, and probably not, respectively.

I would scan all modules with a BT tool to look for any faults then take it in for an inspection and ask for a list of non factory mods, ask your SA if the tec could find any work that would void your warranty.

im guessing youre NOT purchasing from a dealer? dont remember correctly, but if it extends your warranty along with maintenance... i would say get it. you might be in for some warranty work

purchased from a chevorlet dealer. maintenance costs $2000 and i personally would like to learn all the work myself so if anything, i'll just be getting the warranty. so if i just go to the dealer and ask what faults i currently have and what part of warranty would be voided, are they required to be honest with me? or would be say nothing is voided until i've paid them out?

BT tool:

You can check your car for faults, reset service reminders once you change fluids/parts, reset adaptations, etc.
