Well then complain about the M235i vs M2... "these M Performance models" includes some great cars, including M760i, etc. that can go head to head with the past several generations of "real" M models.

Love those seats! They almost look like the ones on X5M. I happen to like all the different 2nd rate M's it's smart for BMW to get ppl into M Performance plus it's way better than Msport package that didn't do anything for performance for most part

I am pretty sure my response mentioned the M2?

Head to head against real M cars in what way? 0-60 times? Straight line acceleration? Clearly you have a firm grasp on what ///M has traditionally represented.

M performance = normal BMW motor with PPK = Audi S line....if 99% of reviewers choose the M2 over an RS3, how do think an S3, or a 235 with those awesome, ferocious, skinny tires is going to fare against it? (Here’s a hint, not well).

Buy into the M performance all you want, doesn’t change the fact that these cars are base model M sports with a PPK.

Don't see where you mentioned M2 at all.

I've owned 'real' M cars. The M Performance models I've owned/driven are not 'real' M cars, but they're certainly closer to Ms than the 'base' models of yesteryear.

Right here?

Anywho, the fake M performance models are a marketing ploy, just the way it is.

Curious to see how it does in tests. The standard X2 seemed to get decent reviews.

Well it's one of the more positive reviewed BMWs of late. And I don't think anyone has ever tried to convince you that the 235 was a full blown M. Just the second best thing and more pumped than the normal

I still remember how just a few years ago half of b-post was clamoring for a boosted 2 liter in the M2, and how that half was disappointed when I told them to expect the N55. Now everyone is going in the opposite direction.

I'm hoping my X2 M35i build would end up around $56k. Could it be possible to build a $59k X2?

For further consideration:

MSRP of my loaded-out X3 M40i is $69,520 delivered.

The X2 M35i would have to be less expensive than the upcoming M340i riiiiight?
Unlikely! X2 20i is roughly the same price as current 320i... so it follows that this car will be in the same ball park as M340i... so which you gonna take? Tbh I’d take the new 330i over this and get some change

This is my issue with this SUV trend... they’re a real money spinner for manufacturers because they’re so expensive. Buyers seem willing to pay (what I consider to be) pretty unreasonable prices for these jacked up hatchbacks for some reason and they give the makers a bigger margin than ‘standard’ cars which are much better values as indicated clearly by my first paragraph!

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

A joke they may be, but I’m afraid you’re wrong... a base BMW (even with six cylinders) NEVER had 300hp...

The first M3 had around 200hp and was substantially slower to 60 than a current 330i & barely quicker than a current 320i... !!!

I drove an X2 loaner in M Sport trim not long ago and I think the X2 will make a killing for BMW in all its trims. It may not drive like a 3 series but it's not supposed to. It's different but good different and definitely drives better than the GLK and Q3 it's meant to compete with. For what it's designed to do, it does it very well. I also see X1s everywhere, almost as much as I see the 3er so clearly there is a big target audience for them.

Now I am with the folks who are not too crazy about putting M on everything but I made my peace with it.

My wife has a F48 x1, and prior to that a mini countryman S. For what the x1 is, it beats everything in its category

Glad to see what the B48 can output

My MIL has an X2. It's not terrible tbh. This looks pretty decent. That they won't bring a wagon version here is incredibly frustrating, but I guess this is what we get for being Americans
