Apple CarPlay on X1

Hi everyone. I did a search here but I couldn't find more info on Apple CarPlay. Is Apple CarPlay available on current X1 model year? I don't see it mentioned on bmwusa.com or the order and pricing guides. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

my car was not delivered yet, so I am not saying it with full authority on the topic, but as far as I know X1 is not going to get iDrive 5 any time soon, and no car play support until then.
As a owner of VW Golf with both Android Auto and Carplay - CP is shit. Miles behind Android Auto, which was unpleasant for me, because I use an iphone primarily, but I kept a Samsung Galaxy S6 phone just for the car.
With Apple Maps it can be different in US, where I heard the navigation capability is much better than in EU, but in here it is useless. It does not know major street names not just in small towns, in large cities as well, it has absolutely zero route planning intelligence, and the lesser usable features of CP are anyway Siri based - for that you do nto need Carplay.

Option available in the updated July brochure here in France. Requires professional navigation with widescreen. I think there is a detailed post about it. No info on whether this comes with an updated revision of idrive software.

That's always been my understanding as well. Because the X1 - unlike most of the BMW range - will not be getting the updated iDrive 5.0 there will be no CarPlay. Also a requirement is to have Professional Navigation which I don't think is available on the X1.

The mention in the French brochure is interesting, but probably a mistake. I've been watching the BMW Germany site for both the X1 and the 2 series Active Tourer, and the U.K. MINI site. Alas, no mention of CarPlay

but also interesting is the mention of Professional satnav - the one in X1 is called Plus, not Professional.
Technically the idrive 5.0 should be possible, because F30 to my knowledge got it - or will get it, and technically those infotainments are not that different except the screen. Some people said apple carplay requires touchscreen, but that seems to be not true - hence F30. Although to be honest, controlling carplay with navigation buttons and knobs in VW is far from comfortable, the system was not designed for 3rd party controllers.

Unfortunately, the F48 is a different platform to the F30, so one can't assume a flow through

^^I agree -- especially if I'd purchased a 7 series. Given it's pretty much standard across the VAG cars and many others...it's quite insulting.

Just found this and was wondering if anyone has heard of this company or their products. Seems that they just rolled out this retrofit for F48 and others. However, I'm skeptical considering that the iPhone 8 and iOS just rolled out and their website makes no mention of compatibility with iPhone 8. Here's the link to their website: http://www.naviplus.com.au/online-st...-kit-p89243088

I've noticed several differences /shortcomings with the infotainment system in my 2017 F48 vs. the 2014 F30. It's a shame.

Just checked the UK July price list and it's there (6CP £235), only with Navigation Plus (ZNQ).

Frustratingly the X1 is still AWOL from the UK configurator...

We ordered ACP for our M Sport 25d xDrive which we took delivery of last week. Configurator is down while they update it with the new 1.8 engine.

Just had my 2.0D X-Line delivered complete with the new touchscreen iDrive Professional System. I didn't specify Car Play when ordering to keep the monthly payments down as it's a lease car.

Just logged in to the Connected Drive store and registered my car and all the Connected Drive options that are standard are all live but it's saying Apple CarPlay is not available for my vehicle so it would appear that you have to specify this at the time of ordering.

No too fussed really as I hate Apple Maps so just a word of warning if you are planning to order an X1 soon.

On the UK configurator this is a £235 option. I shan't be configuring this one.

Current options will be (for sDrive 1.8i)

Reversing Camera
FineStream Wood
Led lights
Space Saver spare
Privacy glass.

I'm still wondering whether the diesel is a better bet, despite them acquiring a somewhat toxic image here.

I recently leased a 2018 BMW X1 (January 2019) I have almost all the options on this vehicle including the bigger screen with system 6. My wife and I are the only two registered drivers in iDrive and I have a Samsung S6 (Yup it still works great) and my wife just got a brand new Apple iPhone Xr. Is it worth getting Apple Car Play. There are a few web-sites that sell this option including on EBAY includes video support for about $100 and I verified this and it works. They tie the software to your vehicle vin # and send you the file which you then place on a Fat32 (regular) USB thumb drive then install it in the USB port in the car...and within 30 seconds it's activated. My question is: Is it worth the hassle?

This is an old thread, you are replying to a post nearly two years old.

In reply to your comments. Unless you are able to get an OTA CarPlay subscription through BMW connected drive store (and for most F48 you will not), or your F48 came with CarPlay factory installed you will NOT be able to get CarPlay. The only exception being if your F48 came with the rare professional nav package (not Nav plus which is same business nav with bigger 8.8” display), when 3rd party sellers will be able to install for you. See my thread about it.

If you try and buy CarPlay through these sites, they will ask for your VIN and then (for 99.9% of F48) they will tell you it is not possible. These sites are for cars with NBTevo Head Units, 99.9% of F48 have ENTRYNAV/ENTRYNAV2 HU.
Sorry

My Nav has perspective view with 3D and full voice control. In fact I can find a restaurant.

This is what I found out on EBAY:

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/BMW-I-level-...100005.m1851or other POI by just a quick question.

Hi
The link you attached clearly stated NBTevo. If you have full 3d perspective on mapping you may have professional nav. Best wishes

My wife's Acura has the Apple Carplay, and it's fantastic. Too bad the X1 doesn't have it.

Where did you hear that? Apple CarPlay is a $300 option for the 2018 MY, and included free for a year for the 2019 MY, then pay $80 or so per year after that.
