Could I get some more? The surface also and info on the wood used too! I don't have a dining room table, or 6, so I would absolutely love to copy the general design and build one like that for myself.

Table legs is something Europeans fuck up constantly. We seem never to grasp the concept of go big or go home the way you do. We have the Ikea syndrome here strong.

So, since you're my target to beat this year apparently, I demand that you forfit victory to me. Your tree was clearly selected in daylight, which is a huge offence in Christmas tree decorating competitions. You also apparently don't know about the last possible moment shopping rule, which obviously states that after you have fetched the tree from the forest all by yourself, you need to find out in the harshest possible way that you have zero decorating shit and those went on sale two days ago so no store has any either.

So since you lost in this humiliating way, which means I won, here is the Lups family tree of 2018.

Those stupid ball thingies were all I could find, and those lanterns are apparently meant for graves. The crystals are plastic, since I bought a huge lamp that had those and chopped it to bits so I could hang something to that stupid thing I swear had branches while it was covered by snow in the forest. I'm pretty sure some fucker stole the branches while I was bringing it home in a sledge.

When I was a kid, my dad made a huge deal about stealing a Christmas tree the night before the eve. It was our thing, we went in a forest and in total stealth mode we found the perfect tree and brought it home while we avoided the cops.

I was past 20 when I realized my family owns a ton of land and I had spent my youth fearing the cops in my own fucking stomping grounds. It just was our thing.

when I had kids, I took up the tradition. We do the whole hiding if we see a light, crawling in tough spots thing. Our saw needs to be blackened out for each trip so the cops, who absolutely have the time to chase tree thiefs couldn't see a reflection from it, our old dog was taught to guard a perimeter so she could inform us from the cops closing in (squerril patrol but what ever for the kids).

This year we had the best crew ever. All my kids, my besties kids, my sister, my 75 year old aunt, me, three dogs loaded off to an unknown location after the night fell. Since no lights obviously are not allowed so the cops won't find us, and since no phones were with us, the mean cops still showed up after some shoes got wet and even after their best efforts in finding us, we managed to escape with three trees.

That tree was thick and beautiful when it was covered in snow. My kids have their criminal story, my aunt got to experience an insane Lups tradition in her own land and the friend who drove through the road near us while flashing blue lights in his car earned a bottle of whiskey.

As for the tree, it's pathetic but my kids will never forget this! Maybe we can take this tradition to fourth generation. Merry Christmas to you all.

We tend to drink a lot of coffee over next couple days

From somebody who has 1 and 1/2 gallons of 1/2 &1/2 in my fridge, I’d say it’s normal if you use coffee mate.

Who's hosting Christmas Day? I get that honor tomorrow. Luckily the price is right on the turkey, thanks to the folks at Greenberg turkey and American Amicable. I carve it the day before, soak it in chicken stock overnight, and put in the oven in the morning! I think I got a good yield this year.

We are hosting Christmas Eve starting in about 90 minutes. Non-traditional (i.e. not fish) Italian was a last minute switch from churrasco-style prime tenderloin when my brother in law told us (yesterday) he no longer eats beef. Made about 3 dozen meatballs this a.m. and saved the tenderloin for another date. BIL can have some chicken and pasta with pesto.

No, but lemetier told me to put a Dalmatian near the tree.

"Your kids will get it"

I'm guessing you two are thinking alike.

Lol I said shove a Charlie Brown plush on the top...not Dalmatian.

In retrospect that was before I realized the tree was wedged against the ceiling.
