I am going to try to retrofit a WLAN cable to my ENTRYNAV2 see if I have the WLAN port before flashing options.

I am in the UK, is there a recommended WLAN antenna?

Thanks to Shawnsheridan for hooking me up. I didn't have to tear up my dash open to stuff an MMI. I talked to 2 different company and said the same that it's impossible. My car is a US Spec in Germany. I do have the 06CP and Premium Nav. I had to sign a waiver due to US Spec BMW's CarPlay won't work due to frequency differences, blah blah. But the loaner that the dealership gave me was a '22 330i and had a CarPlay. I'm not sure why, maybe they sorted out the newer models. The process was quick; ENET cable came in two days. I plugged it in my PC and sat in the car. 30 minutes later, it was done.

Hi,
I understand that for flashing upgrading the iDrive the car battery has to be connected to either another vehicle (that is running) or a battery charger.

Are there any risks with this approach (e.g., to the electronics) is one method safer than others? Using a cable would be simpler and cheaper as I dont have a charger but just wanted to check.

No need to connect the car to the charger. You can keep engine on. Flashing will never fail even if car goes into Transport Mode (refers only to navigation unit flash and its prerequisites). Already tested on many BMW, Mini models.
