I was there today. Weather was fanastic. Mid-70's and sunny.

Big turn out for a Friday practice, one of largest I have seen in past years for Friday.

Nice!!

I've been meaning to get out there since 2012 but things have yet to fall into place. Perhaps next year... lol

I should have you fill in the thread for pics then since you're there, and I'll take the race weekend off. haha.

NR on SS to start race?

Didn't both MERC's complete the 2nd qualifying session only on the SOFT tires?

I was kidding. But I thought he said something about the engine knocking louder as he revved it.

It could have been a rod, just thought with the way it slowed and inched along it was clutch or gearbox - can only guess

Best moment - Alonso's "YEEEHAAA"

now to go see if they penalized him for that.

Vettel is the cause of another first turn incident. I think the "crash kid" is coming back. He is trying to overdrive an inferior car. He doesn't like Kimi out driving him these last few races.

From the Belgian newspaper...

MAX his gearbox failed !
But Red Bull screwed already his second pitstop , because the crew was nowhere while he came in for fresh rubber and fuel
He stand there waiting , and no wheels in sight ....Image !
Respect we need to show for his calmness after the race ...
So the miss-pitstop took more than 40 secondes and his race was than already over and out before his gearbox failure while he drove for the 3th place and the podium...

Up to Mexico next weekend , can't wait to see our Max in action again !

Heard from Ted's notebook that it was a gearbox failure. Initially pitwall told him to keep rolling to retire, then later Max was told to stop. Then probably because of the gearbox failure, the netural button for marshals to use was not able to function as it should. So they had to bring out a tractor, which caused the VSC.

And the pitstop drama was because he heard his race engineer told him to "push" a few laps earlier, so made him thought its time to pit. So he came in without warning. (not too sure about PC-Pit Confirm)
