Does anyone have any insight as to what process BMW has for determining a fix for this issue, and for how long it might be before we hear about it. I ordered an X1, which left Bremerhaven just before this recall was announced.

Why are only US cars on the product recall? Surely the design and layout of the component parts is the same for all countries - that way BMW secures the full economic advantages of scale. Or is it because the car manufacturers are protected by EU and European governments from angry consumers? (That is until they are exposed aka VW emissions)

Just because it fails that test it does not mean that the car is defective nor that you're going to die in an accident, it's simply a test with a specific method in the US that it fails. |

I am looking to buy an x1 and just talked with a dealer salesperson who informed me of the stop sale. What he told me was that he expected the stop sale to last at least a few months (he estimated until October!) meanwhile BMW will take care of existing customers first -- once they have a fix.
He also predicted a flood of x1's on the market once the stop sale is lifted, so that could be a good time to buy if you're willing to wait. |

Note that BMW will start selling the 2020 face-lift version in September. This likely means if anyone wants an X1 but dislike the look of the new X1 better be ready to grab one of the remaining 2019 once the stop-sale is lifted. The limited few produced before the stop-sale may be the only ones available. |

There are still new, 2018s available. My problem is that I always want a configuration that needs to be ordered, thus my 2019 order got bumped to a 2020 (same configuration and same price) and should be one of the first off the 2020 production line, as my order has been in the pipeline since April 23rd. |

^^^ I thought BMW changed package/configs every year. Similarly configured, a 2018 is more expensive than 2019 by couple thousands. If your 2020 has the same configuration and same pricing as 2019, does that mean 2020 MY will be the exactly the same as 2019 MY? No face-lift for 2020 sold in the US? I read the 2020 will have all LED head lights and fog lights, larger infotainment screen and nicer material with leather option. That would be a no-brainer if it is the same price.

^^ 2019 doesn't have full LED headlights, the turn signals are halogens. If the production halt only last for two months like someone mentioned, I don't see why they have to move to 2020. Unless the B pillar issue is really serious and they lack a solution for it and have to stop all 2019 MY US spec production?
